Our next meeting is March 4 and a reminder that we will be meeting every other week through the end of this Rotary year.
One exception to this new rule is a SPECIAL MEETING with the Rotary Club of Taunton on March 9th (a Tuesday) at 8:30 a.m. They would like to give us a 100th-anniversary gift, and so it would be great if members of the club could sign on to show our appreciation.
The Taunton Daily Gazette published Dan's Letter to Editor in support of Rotary and our 100th anniversary year.
An update on the Interact Club:
They gave out "bear hugs" (stuffed bears) to staff members at Taunton High and are continuing their "Spread a Smile" campaign, delivering cards to local organizations. A Water for Cambodia fundraiser campaign is underway. Here is a link to learn more, and you can see the shirts below in the Virtual Flyer. Please get orders in by March 12.
The District is asking for assistance in their Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiative. Gloria Saddler from our club has volunteered to participate, but all members are asked to fill out this survey in support of their efforts: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7950RotaryAssessment
A message from our District Governor:
In our Rotary World, February is Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month. Join us as we explore the topic on Thursday evening, February 25, from 7-8 p.m. Our webinar will be lead by one of our own clubs with a long-standing special interest in this area.
There is also a District Grant webinar coming up. President Dan, President-Elect Bob, and Deb Howland are planning on attending on behalf of our club and learn how we can better use District Grants in our club.
At our most recent meeting...
At our most recent meeting, Dan gave an update on 100th-anniversary plans.
The date of 10/28 has been booked at Holiday Inn. We also have a soft hold on March 31st of 2022. $11,00 is in hand from sponsorships with a total of $36,500 pledged towards the fundraising efforts.
Family Fun Day Chair Dave C. let the club know that planning is about to begin for the June 5th event at Camp Riverside.
This was a short meeting as it was immediately followed by a Board of Directors meeting.
Our Venmo account is live! PLEASE: Include a note as to the purpose of your payment/funds, whenever using our new Venmo account!! The account is @Rotary-Taunton, but the visible name shows up as “Rotary Taunton Rotary Taunton.”
Zulmira had 5 happy bucks for getting her first dose of the vaccine and for the heartwarming story from the AHS staff helping out a colleague in a time of need.
Will was happy for fellowship with Dick Shafer on a local project. He was also happy for the Interact Club's Water for Cambodia fundraiser, and for his daughter's great report cards.
Dick had a buck for now being eligible for the vaccine. He had another buck for the memorial article on the Silver City Galleria which shared many happy memories.
Jody had a happy buck for being back from a brief stay at Governor Morton's former home.
Carol was happy to update the club on all the things her grandkids are up to, even despite covid!
