From the President

At our most recent meeting, October 26th, President Joe presided over our Club's meeting.

President Joe outlined our Club's involvement with the "Scouting for Food" Program on Saturday, November 4, 2017

President Joe informed us that our Annual Christmas Party will be held at Taunton High School on December 7, 2017.

A reminder that the Rotary Foundation Dinner will be November 9th at the Venus de Milo. If folks are interested in attending, let Joe know and Taunton Rotary can reserve seats for this event.

President Joe called for a Rotary Board of Director's meeting immediately after lunch.

Sad News

We note with deep sadness the passing of Past President Leroy W "Roy" Latimer. Roy was a member of our Club since 1973 and served as our Club President 1979 - 1980. Roy played Santa at our Annual Children's Christmas Party until health issues forced him to turn over the reins to Jack Leddy. Our heartfelt prayers and sympathy go out to his wife Patricia, and Roy's two daughters Kathryn and Caroline and the entire Latimer family.

At our most recent meeting on October 26th our scheduled speaker was Cheryl Hayes, but due to unforeseen circumstances she was not able to be with us. There was no program for the day, but everyone enjoyed Rotary fellowship and a tasty lunch.

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Christine Kelley donated some happy bucks to tell us about Bridgewater-Raynham High School's "Stuff-A-Bus" Program to be held on Saturday,November 11, 2017 (Veteran's Day) to benefit the BR Class of 2018 Senior Lock-In. Please consider donating clothes and household items. Christine also spoke of her oldest daughter studying abroad in Greece and Italy and about the girls making the playoffs.

Joanne Storrs emotionally contributed $11 in memory of Mattie Potts who died of a brain aneurysm while playing soccer at school. It is a difficult time for Mattie's parents, family, friends, neighbors and her classmates. On a happier note, PRIDE, Inc. was honored at the State House in Boston and their Fundraiser at Home Plate was a big success.

John Beauchaine tossed in some Happy Bucks because he was glad to be back at Rotary after a brief absence and to honor his fellow musician and singer Dan LeBrun, whose TASC Annual Dinner was a success.

Phil Robertson gave some sad bucks because he won't be at Rotary for the District Governor's visit on November 2nd, but happy bucks because Phil and his wife Anne will be in Toronto at a curling tournament.

Dan LeBrun donated $10 happy bucks to thank everyone who came to the TASC Dinner, donated money or sponsored the event. A special thank you went out to our own Band Leader John Beauchaine for providing the entertainment and to District Attorney Tom Quinn who came by to donate $2,500 to TASC endeavors.

Kerrie Babin contributed some announcement bucks to invite everyone to the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce's 100 Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, November 4th at Taunton's Holiday Inn. Entertainment will be by 'Men in Black'. She promised us the TACC's 100th Anniversary Gala will be spectacular.
