President Carol Sullivan began our March 2, 2017 meeting with a picture of the Mendonca family enjoying the 4th grade Immigration Fair in the Taunton Daily Gazette. She also reminded the club of the the Y's annual fundraising campaign kick off hot breakfast on Friday, March 3.
The TASC Spelling Bee is this week! On March 8, 6 pm, at Taunton High School, Stephanie Mancini, Linda Quinn, and Johnny B. will be going for the gold, representing the Rotary Club. Good luck to all!
DanLeBrun sent in a report from the most recent Interact meeting. The club is excited for the dinner meeting on April 13. They are considering a Paint Night fundraiser and are also confirmed for an Earth Day cleanup on April 29th.
The Kiwanis Club has invited us to a joint meeting. It looks like it may be some time in April, on a Tuesday. Stay tuned.

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
Joanne S. had a happy buck that PRIDE's home-based children's program launched on March 1. They have 3 more kids coming on April 1! She had a second buck to announce PRIDE's Luck of The Irish Raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold, with the winner pulled on March 17. They are second-chance tickets, so if you scratch and lose, you can go online and have one more chance to win. Joe L. had a happy buck for recently attending a New Bedford Rotary meeting, where he was very impressed with the speaker and was glad to have visited. He also had a happy/sad buck for being away next week on a work trip for training in Texas.
Will M. shared a buck because he was happy that the Interact club is going to be involved in the City's Earth Day event on April 29--hopefully Rotarians will be too. He had a personal happy buck for registering for the New Bedford half marathon which is coming up on March 19th! Go Will!
Johnny B had a "Hi!" buck from Victor Santos. He also had a second happy buck because he is happy that he has no intention of ever running a half marathon. Or a marathon. Ever.
Joe M. had a sad buck because he went to his first Celtics game of the season, and he had to watch them get crushed by Atlanta. BUT they beat Cleveland in their next game, and he had a happy buck for that.
At our most recent meeting, Thursday, March 2, 2017, Jeff Walker was the Program Chair and he arranged for Jacqueline L. Jones, AICP, Principal Transportation Planner at SRPEDD to speak to the Club. Jackie focused on the current bike path plans throughout Southeastern Mass, including the Taunton Pathways project. She mentioned how recent projects, like the Rt. 44 bike lane, are part of a larger plan to connect bike lanes throughout the region and provide continuous access for both recreation and transportation needs. She spoke about the challenges of regulations, public attitude, and funding, but says that we are in an upswing of interest now and that there are a lot of great projects underway or in the works. It was an interesting glimpse into a topic that we all can relate to, and thanks to Jackie for speaking with us.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, March 9,2017, and we will be welcoming Phoebe Worcester, Program Director at Bethany House Adult Day Health Care to speak to the club.
