This week President Carol began the meeting by sharing a Gazette article about a recent donation to ProHome.
President Carol reminded the club that we are two weeks away from Pancake and Family Fun Day! A lot of work has been done already but we have a lot more to do. Remember, this is our biggest fundraiser of the year and so we need to make it as big of a success as possible. Sell scratch tickets. Bring back sold and unsold--we need the money and the unsold tickets we can sell at the event. We need to sell two more corporate sponsorships and ads for the booklet! Rack your brain one more time for a business who may be interested in supporting this event! Kit is collecting raffle prizes--and she will shop for you! Baskets, but also gift cards are welcome! Our next two meetings will be planning meetings so bring your best ideas.
Also, don't forget: two young ladies will be visiting from Taunton, England the first two weeks of July. Ed Fowler is diligently working on this and if you can help out as a host or with an activity, please let Ed know.

Ed is happy that his dad had a good laugh at the Today Show airing a story of a horse getting loose in Downtown Manhattan, and staying in the bike lane the whole way until he was contained. #BikeLanes4Life
Christine K was happy to be at the meeting after being busy recently. She was also happy that her oldest daughter made Dean's List again, her youngest daughter was int he Top 10 of her graduating class, and that her oldest daughter is currently traveling in Australia for three weeks. All great things!
Dick Shafer had an info buck for the June edition of the Taunton Arts Collaborative flyer he passed out to each table. Any organizations that can help get the word out about these events are greatly appreciated.
Johnny B. was sad to have missed a few meetings recently, but happy to have recently hired an administrator, which hopefully will make his life a bit easier in the future. He was also happy for the great motorcycle weather--inspection or no inspection, he rode to the meeting to enjoy it!
Dan L. was happy (and also relieved) to be done with his office move. He is now at 68 Allison Avenue!
Carol had two, but then it was actually three! happy bucks. One was for her Granddaughter graduating from Coyle. One was for her Grandson who went Whitewater rafting over the weekend, got thrown out of the raft, but everyone was OK. And one was to have Becky with her at lunch today.
Joe M. was happy that announce that his niece and nephew both received the highest scouting awards recently. They are twins and she got the Gold Award while he earned his Eagle Scout distinction. Congrats to both!
We were pleased to have Rotarian Victor Santos present to the club at our most recent meeting on June 1st. Victor and Lou Ricciardi help to run the Rotary Education Fund of Taunton, Inc. Victor shared information about the fund, which dates back to August of 1938 when the first loan given was for $200. He shared that it is a loan program from college students in their Junior or Senior year in need of financial help. The student does not have to live in Taunton to apply or receive support. Applications are reviewed by a loan committee and award notices are sent. Loans must be paid back six months after graduation, though the committee regularly grants extensions and works with students who may go on to pursue additional degrees which makes it difficult to make large payments. There is a maximum each round of $3,000 per student, and in total a student can receive no more than $5,500. These are no interest loans. The application deadline is July 15 each year. Anyone who knows of a student who would benefit from this program is encouraged to share this information with them.
