President Joe awarded club member Dr. Harold Goren his certificate for 51 years of service in Rotary. Congratulations Harold!

A thank you note was read from Dottie Court, thanking the club for the tribute to Arthur with the new flag pole.

The District Annual Assembly is coming up and Joe and Carol will be attending.

The Rotary Club of Cranston has sent an invitation for a Water for Cambodia fundraiser which will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016.

Rotary day update: The hot air balloon has been approved. The City has accepted Rotary's insurance so we do not need to carry additional insurance. Dave and Carol are working on selling ad space. Everyone is asked to sell two ads and to do it quickly. John is organizing labor. Joe P is working on marketing. Kit needs raffle prizes, or the cash to purchase the materials and she will make a raffle basket for you

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation? 
  • Dick was happy for a recent trip through the Southeast. He saw a rare moonbow. Also shared an information buck for the Arts Collaborative ad on the back of the 2016 Taunton map.
  • Bob Hunt was happy to have the Gorans at the meeting. Mentioned that Harold served as president in 1976.
  • John B was happy for his recent trip to Sedona. He also offered a thank you buck to Roger Goodell for the chance for the next four-time Superbowl winning Patriots quarterback to get some practice this season.
  • Carol was happy to remember her first concert to see Bobby Darin.
  • Dave Tipping had happy buck for President Joe's recent service award.
  • Joe M was happy to have sold so many tickets for the raffle. And put in a hopeful buck for the Celtics.

Program Speaker
Our speaker this past week was Jake Jacobs, Career Specialist at Taunton High School and Coordinator of Bridge to Employment. Bridge to Employment is a program "Inspiring young people to stay in school, excel academically and elevate their career aspirations." More information can be found on their website at www.bridge2employment.org
 
This week's speaker will be Shannon Wroblewski. Shannon is the Development Manager for the American Lung Association, an organization that is working to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. Shannon has over 3 years of experience working in the non-profit sector and specializes in fundraising and awareness building. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Communications from Roger Williams University. Shannon is passionate about helping others and dedicated to the cause of improving lung health.
