Ed Fowler has had his knee surgery. We all offer prayers and positive thoughts for a speedy and full recovery!
Carol Sullivan is spearheading the backpack program again this year. She has picked up some items from Rotarians--thank you! Anyone with more items that could go in a young kid's backpack (up to grade 4 or 5) please reach out to Carol or Dan.
After today, Rotary meetings will start at 12 noon (not 12:10) and most will be done at 1 pm.
Meetings are going to alternate between in-person and Zoom for the foreseeable future.
Annual Club Dues are $200. Invoices are going out in the next several days, so be on the lookout.
At our most recent meeting...
...we were joined by Charles Thayer, Nancy Spirko, and Julie Masci of Morton Hospital to discuss Morton's role in COVID-19 pandemic. Morton expanded their Intensive Care unit into a regional Covid Intensive Care, with 30 ventilators delivered from FEMA, intensive care unit specialists sent to work with them, and nursing staff arriving from Florida and Arizona to come and help. At the peak, in late April/early May there were 2 or 3 nurses with each patient. As a result of their work, Morton has been a part of national studies for treatment, and as of July 20th reported no Covid+ patients. Morton's message is "Safe and Ready," and we certainly thank the entire team at Morton for their work during this challenging time!
