President Announcements

President Joe reminded everyone that the scratch ticket raffle drawing will take place at the April 28 meeting. There were 66 tickets left to be taken and others still out being sold. All tickets need to be in by this Thursday's meeting to have a chance to win!

Joe reminded the club of the board meeting to be held on the evening on April 21. Family Fun Day is only 8 weeks away and will make up the bulk of the meeting's agenda.

Joe is back after attending the district conference. He and Carol will be at the District Annual Assembly on Saturday, April 30th. This event is open to all.

At the district conference, club member Dr. Harold Goren was awarded a certificate for his 51 years in Rotary. Congratulations Harold!

Rotary day update: Dave and Carol are working on selling ad space and corporate sponsorships. Send any contacts to them who may be interested.

Happy & Sad Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Joe was sad that the Celtics are down 0-2, but optimistic they can turn things around at home.
Dave was happy to announce that Joe P. arranged for First Citizens to do the face painting at Family Fun Day. Thanks Joe!
Dan was happy for a nice crowd at the April 21 meeting and welcomed our guests.
Jody was happy to welcome Derek Swenson, who he knew as "Mr. Sweatsocks" when his daughter had him in school.

RI Foundation Minute

Recent news from the Rotary Foundation:

A recent article in Popular Science, posted April 13, 2016, about the work to eradicate polio is titled "We Might Be Rid Of Polio Very Soon." So far in 2016 there have been only 9 reported cases. Read more here.

Program Speaker

Our speakers this past week were Carol Sullivan's guests Erin Valentine and Meghan Mello. Erin and Meghan spoke passionately about the dangers of the designer drug 25i, their grief over losing Erin's daughter Emily to it, and their work to raise awareness of the dangers of 25i to prevent future tragedies. Educating the public about 25i is Meghan's Girl Scout Gold Star project and Erin has worked with legislators to have the drug classified and criminalized.
