At our most recent meeting, held on January 25th, President Joe Livingston presided over our Club's meeting.
President Joe began by announcing that Associates for Human Services will be holding a "Dough Raiser" to benefit AHS at UNO's on Thursday, January 25th.
A note on upcoming events: the Million Dollar Meal is planned for February 8th at Pilgrim Church. We'd like to do the raffle drawing that day, so please sell your tickets.
There will be a Rotary Board of Director's meeting on Tuesday evening, January 30, 2018 at 5:00 PM in the board room at Associates for Human Services. Thanks to Kit for hosting.
The Annual TASC Spelling Bee will be held on April 11th and our Club plans to field a team. Dan LeBrun is the point man.
Our Club and Pro-Home, Inc. will be co-hosting a Beer and Wine Tasting Fundraiser on April 12, 2018 at Quality Beverage in the Myles Standish Industrial Park. Mark your calendar!.
The Interact Club has requested that we donate plastic bags which will be recycled and knitted into gloves, scarves, and hats to be distributed at Taunton area homeless shelters.

At our most recent meeting, Rich Volkmann introduced our Guest Speaker Jamie Crossman from Homes for OurTroops.Jamie is a Past President of our Club.
Jamie is excited to be working with Homes For Our Troops at its' national headquarters on Main Street in Taunton. She gave up her position as President and CEO of United Way of Greater Attleboro and Taunton to pursue her calling and passion and to simply do what she wanted to do. Jamie jokingly said one of her sons told people she "was going through menopause and moved to Martha's Vineyard."
Jamie gave us a detailed talk on the inner workings of Homes for Our Troops using examples of what they do and how they operate. She explained the scope of their work on the local and national level supported by an impressive array of statistics. Dedicated crews make it all happen. A Q & A followed with many Club members participating.
Homes for Our Troops is a privately funded 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives. For more information or how to help go to www.hfotusa.org.

Ed Fowler had a Happy Buck to see Jamie Crossman back at Rotary.
Rich Volkmann was happy to see Jamie Crossman back and was happy that his daughter texted that she completed her second test toward her architecture goal.
Dick Shafer donated some Happy Bucks because he was happy to be back from Disneyworld where his grandson had a great time. Further, Dick touted Downtown Taunton's Annual Meeting from the night before. Nine new businesses opened downtown and 3 more are on the way. It was a wonderful meeting.
Phil Robertson was sad because a Pakistani mother and daughter were shot and killed while working for the End Polio Now Campaign by Taliban terrorists. However, Phil was happy that Rotary International received the top award for Charity by the Navigator organization.
Dan LeBrun was happy to see Jamie Crossman back at Rotary and he announced that he distributed flyers regarding AHS and TASC UNO's fundraiser.
Carol Sullivan donated three Happy Bucks because she was happy to see Jamie Crossman, she just got back from Florida, and she will be spending Super Bowl Sunday in Aruba.
Joe Mitchell donated $4 Happy Bucks because his beloved Celtics stopped their 4 game loosing streak.
Al Mendes gave a sad buck because his cousin has been ill.
Willits Mendoca had some Happy and Sad Bucks. He was happy to see Jamie Crossman, happy to announce that Harry Rose is vacationing in Florida and his health has improved, and sad because Supt. of Taunton Schools Dr. Julie Hackett accepted the Superintendent's job in Lexington, MA.
John Beauchaine donated some Happy Bucks because his lost cat is back home and on the mend and his beloved Patriots are in the Super Bowl.
David Correira contributed $5 Happy Bucks because he was happy to see Jamie Crossman who brought him into Rotary and he gave us an update on our June 23rd Family Pancake and Fun Day to be held at THS.
Mike Quinn threw in some Happy Bucks because he was happy to see Jamie Crossman at our meeting and his son Chris was on a ship from Mass Maritime Academy in Germany but he would be back to see the Super Bowl, however the ship's Captain is a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Prez Joe Livingston was happy to see Jamie and his NY Giants team has a new coach and Joe is confident they will be next year's NFL playoffs.
