Board Members, be on the lookout for an announcement about the first board meeting of the 2021-2022 Rotary Year. All members of the club are invited to attend, and board members are encouraged to attend.
Carol shared articles on a recent OCHM walking tour article and an article about BCC back in Taunton at the former Coyle Cassidy campus.
There is an upcoming "Family Feud-style" fundraiser at the Elks and we have been asked to participate with a Rotary team. The winning team will get to choose where raised funds will be donated to. This event is coming up fast on August 22, so if you are interested in participating, please reach out to Bob! We need about 5 people.
A reminder that Carol is again collecting supplies for the Back to School Backpack donation she has spearheaded in recent years. Anyone who promo items (pens, pencils, notepads, etc.) that they would like to donate, please bring to a meeting for Carol to collect. She is looking to do 75 backpacks this year.
At our most recent meeting...
...we were treated to a history lesson from Ed Fowler. Ed is an avid coin and bill collector and shared with us the history of fractional currency. He shared some interesting pieces from his own collection and weaved together an interesting tale about the growth of the United States, the Civil War, and his own treasure hunts to find rare and interesting pieces.
Thank you, Ed!
also, Mike Tabak pulled the elusive Ave of Hearts to win the 50/50 raffle! Dick Shafer got the scratch ticker. Congrats to both!
Our Venmo account is live! PLEASE: Include a note as to the purpose of your payment/funds, whenever using our new Venmo account!! The account is @Rotary-Taunton, but the visible name shows up as “Rotary Taunton Rotary Taunton.”
Carol had two happy bucks. The first is for her grandson who was recently accepted as an Eagle Scout. And her second is for an upcoming trip to Vermont to go apartment-hunting with Meghan for a new job.
Zulmira had a happy buck for Shavon's first Rotary meeting and a happy buck for Claire joining us at our meeting.
Dick had an info buck for a lot of fun events going on in Downtown Taunton this weekend--hopes people will join in.
Ed had a happy buck for Bob as he starts his Rotary year and a happy buck for Claire joining us for lunch.
