Several new businesses will be opening soon. Serendipity Bookstore and First Defense Uniforms are set to open in the next couple of weeks, followed by three major openings in April: Free Play Arcade, 22 Bar and Grill, and Starbucks. Looking ahead, Seven Spices will arrive downtown in mid-June, and Mad for Burgers will open in August next to Starbucks. Nytia Soul Food is now open and receiving great reviews, while Neighbors Coffee was recently featured on WBZ.
Upcoming events include the Taste of Taunton at the Clarion, MBTA commuter rail service beginning March 24, and the Easter Egg Helicopter Drop at the high school on April 5 at 9 a.m.
City projects are also progressing: the Whittenton Mills Project’s next City Council hearing is in late April, and South Coast Hospital plans to open an urgent care center near Home Depot in August, with hopes of expanding within the city. The Bacon Felt building is being cleared of hazardous materials and will become a container-style commercial complex, with potential future expansion on West Water Street. Additionally, Frank’s Good Time Lounge will see upgrades, including six new apartments.
