President Carol Sullivan began our March 9, 2017, meeting by sharing two Taunton Daily Gazette articles featuring the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce and "A Day of Creativity" at Marian Manor.
President Carol thanked the Rotarians who participated in the TASC Spelling Bee last week. They competed hard and made it all the way to double overtime. Congrats as well to Dan LeBrun for a successful event.
Rich had an announcement that our next raffle is ready to go--he had the tickets to prove it. If everyone could start by selling 10 tickets, we'd be off to a great start with our next fundraiser.
President Carol also wanted to acknowledge Stoneforge. Not only do they provide us with good food and great service, they were able to accommodate us and save some money for the club. We appreciate their efforts and are glad to be working together!
One of our guests, John McCaul, offered an invitation for Rotarians to attend a Kiwanis luncheon meeting April 18th at La Familia.
Kerrie Babin had an announcement that the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating their 100thanniversary this year. All are invited to their upcoming Annual Meeting. 2017 will be a year of celebration, partnering with the Old Colony History Museum to share the history of some of the best-known businesses in the city. Celebrations will lead to a gala this November.

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
Linda Q. had 10 bucks. Some were sad for missing recent meetings. Some were happy for participating in the Spelling Bee. Most were excited because she will be visiting her daughter in D.C. this week and is very much looking forward to it.
Stephanie M. had 5 happy bucks. She loved the Spelling Bee. She had many thanks to everyone who came out to the Y's breakfast last week. And also mentioned that the Y's Spinathon was coming up on Saturday for anyone who is interested.
Dan L. had a happy buck (borrowed from Jeff) for Spelling Bee support. He felt like it was a very successful event.
Jeff W. had a happy buck to relate the news that last week's speaker was happy to have been speaking to an audience so supportive of bicycling. Jeff mentioned that she missed talking with Ed so we may have to arrange an encore.
Jody F. shared a buck about a meeting he caught on t.v. where he learned that the nuns of LaSalette were asking for a crosswalk to the shrine. Watching a little closer, he saw Rick Conti on the council, who then voted down the nuns.
Rick Conti dished out 5 bucks as penance for voting against the nuns.
Ed F. had a sad buck for missing last week's meeting due to car issues. He apologized for missing the bike lane conversation especially. He had a happy buck to welcome John McCaul to our meeting.
Rich V. had a happy buck for the success of the Spelling Bee. He was sad to miss the Y breakfast but was already signed up for the Spinathon.
At our most recent meeting, Thursday, March 9, 2017, Linda Quinn was the Program Chair. She arranged for Phoebe Worcester, Program Director at Bethany House Adult Day Health Care to speak to the club. Phoebe shared her personal and professional experiences as a caregiver and as the Director of Bethany House. She gave an insightful talk about the challenges of running an Adult Day Care center, but also some of the true joys and successes that she encounters every day. She explained to the group Bethany House's mission, structure, and appeal in the Elder Care market. She also reiterated that all of her staff works to find the best solutions for their clients, which sometimes means referring them to other facilities. Pheobe's love of her work was clear and her efforts are to be applauded.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, March 16,2017. Bill Corbett is the Progam Chair and he has arranged for the Wildfire Girls to present.
