Club News & Announcements

Our most recent club meeting was held on February 19 and led by President Bob. He passed around our new Rotary Gift Swag--branded power packs.

Reminders:
  • This week is our evening meeting. We will meet at The Jockey Club in the front room we've been in before.
  • We’re organizing a Winter Care Pack drive to support local shelters in partnership with the Taunton Lions Club. We’re collecting warm winter essentials for backpack-style care kits. Donations can be dropped off at AHS, PRIDE, the Chamber's office, or brought to any Rotary meeting. We’ll pack the backpacks together (tentatively March 12). You can also contribute financially in person or on Venmo. If you Venmo, please leave a note so we know what you are donating for.
  • We’re registered for a table at the Taunton River Festival from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. on June 14 and will be joining forces with the Rotary Club of the Bridgewaters. Volunteers to help staff the table are welcome!

At Our Most Recent Meeting...

... our club was pleased to welcome Lisa Field, who represents the 3rd Bristol District in the Massachusetts House.

Representative Field shared updates on several key priorities impacting our region and the Commonwealth. She highlighted infrastructure initiatives including the ongoing investment in roads, public facilities, and essential systems that support both economic growth and quality of life. With unemployment in Taunton currently around 5.3%, which is higher than the average in Massachusetts, she spoke about workforce trends and efforts to support job growth. Housing remains a key topic at the State House with a focus on expanding housing availability and addressing affordability challenges across the district.

Throughout her remarks, Rep. Field emphasized the importance of connecting these initiatives — infrastructure, funding, workforce development, and housing — to build stronger, more resilient communities.

We thank Representative Field for taking the time to speak with us and for her commitment to supporting our local community.

Happy & Sad Bucks

  • Zulmira had 3 happy bucks: One for Representative Field joining us, one to promote the AHS Golf Tournament flyer, and gratitude that despite a recent local tragedy, none of our direct community connections were involved.
  • Ed had a sad buck regarding the shooting at PCD; but had a happy buck that his granddaughters and friends in their network were okay.
  • John D. had a happy buck that his first business is pulling away as planned and looking forward to operating independently. Also happy that his kids are heading back to school next week.
  • Representative Field offered a sad buck for a colleague who recently lost both parents within just a couple of days. She added a Happy Buck to share that a recent veterans job fair was a great success.
