The Interact Club will be running a post-Thanksgiving food drive. There will be a collection on December 8th but feel free to start collecting now if you'd like to contribute. They are looking to collect the following items:
Individual Packed Servings of Fruit Cups; Cereal; Cookies; Crackers; Granola Bars; Breakfast Bars; Lunchables; Juice boxes as well as Hygiene products(single): Paper towels; Toilet paper; Napkins; Hand sanitizer; Toothpaste, and Feminine Products.
Also, the Head Start Christmas party is going to be different this year, so stay tuned for how you can help out.

At our most recent meeting...
At our most recent meeting, we were joined by Jaclyn Freestone, Program Supervisor Healthy Families Taunton-Attleboro. Healthy Families is part of a statewide program called A Children's Trust. They offer free, voluntary, and confidential services to support first-time mothers and fathers, 20 years old and younger, from pregnancy through the child's 3rd birthday. Services from Jacyln's offices are offered throughout 12 local communities and referrals can be made to other Healthy Family programs throughout the state. As a home-based visit program they have has shifted to virtual meetings due to COVID and are still able to work with a number of families who are in need of their services. Taunton Area School to Career (TASC) is looking for volunteers from the local Business Community! We are currently seeking Career Mentors, and two businesses who are willing to pilot our virtual, project-based internship program!
The Career Mentoring program matches volunteers, local business professionals with students on a one-to-one basis. Once matched, the mentor and his/her mentee meet about twice a month *virtually* to explore education and career options and learn essential work skills. They tour area businesses, organizations, colleges, and trade schools – all arranged by TASC. They also have individual meetings, focused on meeting the post-secondary needs and goals of the mentee. We have openings in our Traditional Model (twice per month meetings via Zoom, Google, meets, etc. from January-June) or the Bridge-to-STEM Employment Model (twice per month meetings from Jan-June & Sept.-Dec.) The Virtual Internship experience allows interested and selected high school students to participate in a structured, project-based internship experience with a Taunton Area employer over a specified duration (i.e. 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 10 weeks, etc.) all from home or school. Students will be grouped together in small to medium-sized cohorts and assigned a specific employer based on their career interests and availability. Students will end the virtual internship experience with a project deliverable (PowerPoint presentation, Paper, Website, etc.) that the business will have access to, and the student can add to their career portfolio. TASC will work with each employer to customize an internship and project based on the needs of their business. Employers will be required to meet with students once per week for career education and exploration activities, and to share feedback on their projects.
