From the President

Our most recent meeting was held on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Stoneforge. We were pleased to welcome Taunton Superintendent of Schools John Cabral and Assistant Superintendent of Schools Chris Baratta

Promo flyers and the Pancake and Family Fun Day Sponsor Form are posted to our website. On the home page, they are on the left-hand column. If you know of a business that may want to sponsor, chat with Dave C. and this is the form they will need to return!

Upcoming calendar items:

Tree planting event coming up this spring.
April 13 there is a District Assembly at Whites at Westport. This is a great event for anyone interested in learning more or doing more in Rotary.
April 25 is the Pro-Home "Splash of Spring" event. There is no lunch meeting that day. Instead, Rotarians receive one ticket to the event at Quality Beverage. There are extra tickets available for sale if you know of someone who may like to attend.
On May 2 we will have our meeting at P.R.I.D.E. This meeting will start at 11 am with group activities (sign up if you have special skills to share) followed by lunch.
May 3rd - 4th is our District Conference 2019 at The Doubletree Hotel in Danvers Mass. We can get you more info if you are interested in attending
Joe's installation as AG will be June 17.

Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting, we welcomed Taunton Superintendent of Schools John Cabral and Assistant Superintendent of Schools Chris Baratta. Mr. Cabral shared information about his background and upbringing in the Azores, and his challenges upon moving to Fall River and entering the public school system. He spoke about those important educators who made a difference in his life, and his own personal journey to becoming superintendent. He also shared what he has been learning in his first year as superintendent and his vision for the future of the Taunton Public Schools. Members of the club were able to thank both Mr. Cabral and Mr. Baratteafor their help in hosting Pancake and Family Fun Day at the high school, and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Jody had a happy buck for our guest speakers.
Julie had a sad buck for the recent passing of her friend's brother. She also had a happy buck for her one-year anniversary with her company.
Joe Mitchell was happy to meet John Cabral in person after connecting on the phone over the years to plan Pancake and Family Fun Day at the High School.
Mike T. had a happy buck for our speaker and a happy buck for Harry Rose who he visited at home and can report back that he is doing well.
Will M. had 5 happy bucks. Altogether they were for our speakers and for his two daughters who both had great terms in school.
Dan had a happy buck for our speaker and for his grandson who is doing great in kindergarten.
Dave C. had a happy buck to have discovered an unprotected New York Giants hat on his table which he planned to soon throw into the middle of Route 44.
John had a buck for the great educators who work with his son at Leddy/AHS.
Darrell had a happy buck for his daughter, who, during spring break while studying in Copenhagen, is vacationing in Greece.
Joe L. had an IOU so that he can get back at Dave for the hat remark. He also had a buck for recently celebrating his wife's birthday. And finally, a very happy buck for his brother becoming a deacon and anticipating taking the next step in the priesthood next year.
