Club News & Announcements
From the President
Our most recent meeting was held on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at Stoneforge. Past President Carol  Sullivan ran the meeting.

Carol informed the club that Past President Frank Tosti passed away recently. He was a great person and will be deeply missed. She also passed around a newspaper article of Joe Mitchell awarding a Bridgewater Savings Bank foundation grant. Finally, Carol asked club members to brainstorm a project they would like to take on during her upcoming year as president. She's interested in bringing back the backpack project with a goal of distributing 80-100 backpacks. If there are other things we can do as a club, Carol would like to hear about it.

Upcoming calendar items:

  • Our Winter Social will be at Sakana on February 28th at 6 p.m. No lunch meeting that day!
  • March 7 will be a Family Fun Day Planning Meeting. Committee chairs, please be prepared to work with/update your committees.
  • March 14 will be a speaker at a regular lunch meeting.
  • March 21 will be our club Spelling Bee to send a team to the TASC Spelling Bee.

You can bring a guest to a Rotary meeting!
This week we welcomed:

  • Julie Ochs, proposed new member
Last Week's Speaker
At our most recent meeting, we didn't have a formal speaker but Ed Fowler gave those in attendance a great overview of all the different positions in the club's administration. As we head into the final few months of the Rotary Year, Ed does a lot of behind the scenes work to set up the Nominations for the upcoming year. There are a lot of different roles to keep the club running, and if you are interested in taking on a larger role in the club please reach out to Ed.

Also, a final reminder to activate your My Rotary page. You can do this at https://my.rotary.org/en. This becomes your own personal connection to Rotary International. It links to your club. It tracks your charitable giving. There is a ton of information on there. We are trying to get 80% of our club to have an account and we are currently at something like 17%.

Happy Bucks
Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
  • Ed had an "In Memory" buck for Frank Tosti--a great mentor and wonderful person.
  • Joe Mitchell had a buck for Ed's well-done presentation on the club's administration.
  • Zulmira had a sad buck for missing the Million Dolla Meal. She had a happy buck to read in the Bulletin about all the people who have recently overcome cancer diagnoses.
  • Dan had an info buck about the AHS raffle being underway. He also let members know that the  TASC Spelling Bee coming will be held on April 10.
  • Jody had a happy buck in memory of Stuart Robertson who he was reminded about during the presentation on Rotary positions. Jody shared that Rotary International was encouraging the Taunton Club to do a better job of attracting younger members as far back as 1927. That's when Stuart joined and he stayed in for decades. Jody was glad to say we have done a much better job since attracting young members.
  • John D. had an info buck about the VFW in Norton hosting fundraiser Sunday for anyone interested. They also host a meat raffle every Saturday to which the entire club is invited.
