NEXT MEETING: January 30, 2025
12:00 p.m. at Stoneforge

Club News & Announcements

Our most recent meeting was held on January 23, led by President George Mendros. We welcomed Visiting Rotarian Rick Conti.

We wished a "Happy Birthday" to Rotarians with January birthdays.

A reminder, we will not be having an evening meeting in January. Please note the January 30 meeting will be at noon at Stoneforge. President George will give a mid-year report. We will resume evening meetings in February.

Reminder from the Taunton High Interact Club:
The Interact Club is hosting a Coat Drive!  Please consider donating any gently used winter gear items and bring them to our February 6th meeting. Club liaison Will Mendonca will collect items and get them to the Interact Club.

I was going to make a collage, but thanks to Mike Tabak for sharing so many wonderful photos of Dan, it felt like it needed to be a bit longer. So here is a link to a short video collage: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1B5bj9BHgH/

Dan's wake will be held at O'Keefe Wade Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. Dan's funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Jude the Apostle Church on Wednesday. January 29, 2025 at 11 a.m.

At Our Most Recent Meeting...

...Dave Correia gave his first Family Fun Day 2025 Report. And things are well underway.

The 2025 Family Fun Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, from 11 AM to 3 PM, with a rain date of June 15, at Camp Riverside. The event will feature a train ride, pony rides, a magician, a balloon artist, and live music. Two food trucks, Bottle Rocket and Burrito Bowl, will provide refreshments.

Key items being finalized include police presence, overflow parking, shuttle services, insurance coverage, and sponsorship request materials. Additional plans in progress include a pre-registration QR code, lawn signs, an inventory of Rotary shirts, and a return of the prize wheel spin game.

Marketing efforts will include a feature in the TMLP newsletter and a "Save the Date" post on social media. The goal for this fundraiser is $20,000, building on the $15,500 raised in 2024.

Thanks to Dave for all of his hard work!

Happy & Sad Bucks

  • Rick had 5 happy bucks for the people who are here. Rotarians have been some of the best people he's ever met, his bucks are to honor Dan's legacy through the good people he is here with today.
  • Carol Souza: 20 sad bucks for  Dan. He was always so great at the children's Christmas party, and she will miss him there as long as it continues.
  • Zulmira: Sad bucks for losing Dan. It was a privilege to work with him. He loved people and Rotary, and she will miss him.
  • Mike C: Sad buck for Dan, who was one of the first people he met with when he was joining the club.
  • Will: Sad buck for Dan. He is grateful to have known Dan through Rotary, work, and church. Happy Dan reconnected with his daughters just before the holidays. Glad he is in a better place.
  • Dick: Sad buck for Dan. Remembering him as a wonderful president who did a great job during the 100th celebration.
  • Dave: Sad bucks to honor Dan's life. He would have appreciated today's rendition of "God Bless America." Dan was one of the most amazing people he ever met and a great example of community service.
  • Jody: A happy buck for Dan's life. Knew him since 1981 through The Weir Corporation. He was a friend and ally who will not be forgotten.
  • Joe: Happy to have nominated Dan for the recent Paul Harris recognition.
  • George: Sad buck for Dan's family. Will miss his stories about his grandson's basketball and his singing. Happy to have known Dan LeBrun.
  • Mike T.: Reflects on Dan as a "worker in the Lord's vineyard" and is sure Dan is smiling now.
  • Jen: Sad buck. Always admired Dan's involvement with nonprofits. Will never hear "God Bless America" without thinking of him.
