Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
Joe L. shared a happy buck and distributed a flyer for a Boy Scout fundraising Wine and Beer tasting coming up on August 18. He also had a happy/sad buck that the summer camp season has ended. It is bittersweet to finish up, but glad for a successful year and glad to be back at Rotary.
Christine Kelley was happy to have her friend Diane join us for the meeting. Hopes she may consider joining us.
John B was happy to report that he had done a make up at the Attleboro Rotary club and saw Jan Alden, who sends her best to all in the club. He also had an apology buck for having to leave the meeting a little early today.
George Mendros had a buck to be back with us again!
Dick S. was happy to share a buck to celebrate the 40th anniversary of moving to Taunton.
Ed F. had a buck recounting a recent meeting with former club member Jack Hubbard and Ed asks that we all keep Jack in our prayers.
Rich V had three happy bucks: one for his guests here today, one looking forward to the PRIDE golf tournament, and one welcoming back George.
Joe Mitchell had two bucks: one thanking Maureen Cody for hosting the board meeting at her home recently and the other to be back presiding over a meeting, albeit with less pressure than he is used to now that he is a Past President.
At last week's meeting, Phil Robertson gave the second half of his presentation on the history of the Rotary Foundation. For those of you who missed it, some of the information can be found online here as well as information about celebrating the centennial in 2016-2017.
At the August 4th meeting, Rich Volkman was the program chair and he welcomed our speaker, Bruce McGregor of Minuteman Health. Bruce is a friend of Rich's and has spent the past 26 years navigating the field of health insurance sales. Bruce shared his insights into some of the approaches companies can take to try to balance the high costs of health insurance with ensuring the best care for employees. Bruce also shared his admiration for much of the good work being done by health care providers in Massachusetts. Bruce was kind enough to answer questions from the audience and gave a thoroughly engaging and well-prepared presentation enjoyed by those present.
For this week's meeting Ed Fowler is the program chair and we will be seeing a PowerPoint presentation of the recent trip to England presented by our two sponsored students. All are encouraged to attend!
