From the President
President Carol reminded the Club that the Interact Club is going to be hosting a Paint Night fundraiser in support of Water for Cambodia on March 26th. It will be held at Taunton High School and tickets will be $25. There will be no lunch meeting that day.

And we all send a huge thanks to our chefs, Pilgrim Church for hosting, Rich for the sandwiches, and everyone who helped with the Million Dollar Meal.

Last Week's Speaker
At our most recent meeting, our Rotary Foundation Chair, Joe Mitchell was our speaker, continuing to follow in the footsteps of our former Foundation Chair, Phil Robertson. For this meeting, we enjoyed our annual Million Dollar Meal. Instead of our regular weekly meal, we had lunch today at Pilgrim Church. The homemade clam chowder was prepared by head chefs Bob and Barbara Hunt, and we had sandwiches, drinks, and desserts donated by club members. This means that we can take the expense of our weekly lunch, and donate it to the Rotary International Foundation.

This tradition of donating lunch costs, started right in our area, in Stoughton, in 1959. The idea was that if the 500,000 Rotarians around the world could save their $2 (!) lunch expense, a million dollars would be saved and could be donated to the Foundation. Today, Rotary has 1.2 members in 35,000+ clubs and this idea of "Million Dollar Meals" is used around the world.

The Rotary Foundation transforms financial gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. The Rotary Club of Taunton is proud to play our part in this international effort. Thanks to everyone who made it possible.

Happy Bucks
Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
  • No bucks this week. But, one table was going to give a very happy buck to Dan and John for their great rendition of God Bless America!
