Club News & Announcements

Our most recent club meeting was held on March 5 and led by President Bob. We were pleased to welcome friend and Visiting Rotarian John Beauchaine.

This is the final week of our Winter Care Pack drive to support local shelters in partnership with the Taunton Lions Club. We’re collecting warm winter essentials for backpack-style care kits. Donations can be dropped off at AHS, PRIDE, the Chamber's office, or brought to this week's Rotary meeting. You can also contribute financially in person or on Venmo. If you Venmo, please leave a note so we know what you are donating for.

At Our Most Recent Meeting...

...Family Fun Day Chairperson Dave Correia led a productive planning meeting with the club to review progress and next steps. We are less than 90 days away from the big day!

Several major pieces are already in place, including the event space rental, entertainment bookings, and insurance requirements. Dave is now focused on a few key remaining items: securing a new overflow parking lot, arranging the shuttle service once the lot is confirmed, confirming the police detail, and continuing the always-important work of bringing in sponsorships.

Other project roles are also in motion. John D. is heading up food sales for the event, and Katie is coordinating the marketing and promotion.

As we move closer to the event, the whole club will play an important role. Members can help most by:

  • Volunteering during the event

  • Spreading the word in the community

  • Helping secure sponsorships

Family Fun Day is shaping up to be another fantastic community event!

Happy & Sad Bucks

  • Carol had a Happy Buck that Megan is finishing her Master’s degree in June and is on the honor roll.

  • John Beauchaine was happy to be here and see everyone. Also happy for Dave and all the work he’s doing on Family Fun Day.

  • Joe had Happy bucks to see John and for Family Fun Day (even though he originally wasn’t in favor of the change). Happy for the Celtics—though not last night. Happy for Jen and Bob for PELS. Also shared that he’s presenting the district budget to President-Elects and that BCC will host the Annual Assembly meeting in April.

  • Julie was Happy and Sad. Happy to be here and that her eldest son will be starting a new career soon as a corrections officer on his way to the State Police. Sad that her son Garrett was fired from his job and hoping it leads to a new direction.

  • Sarah was Happy that today is her dog’s birthday. Recently had a surprise audit and is happy it’s behind her and thinks it went well. She’s also selling Luck of the Irish tickets for $20 if anyone is interested.

  • John D. had a Sad buck for mouthing off about kids going back to school and then having another week off for snow. Also had a fall and spent time at VA urgent care. Good news: he didn’t break his hip or pelvis. Bad news: he broke his tailbone.

  • Santina shared that the Y is preparing for the Spin-a-thon on the 19th and 22nd (evening and morning sessions) supporting the Livestrong community and honoring Joan and Bob Smith.

  • Zulmira passed along greetings from Linda LeBrun.

  • Mike had a Sad buck that Dan is no longer here to sing with the group.

  • Ed had some updates including that he won $60 on the Rotary scratch ticket and is donating it to the Million Dollar Meal. Also shared snow-plowing stories—from plowing at Holy Family Church (which became a staging area for city trucks—white trucks are hard to see!) to helping plow in his daughter’s neighborhood in Seekonk, where neighbors had to clear a one-lane road. After plowing so many people out, he ended up needing to hire someone to plow him out.

Dave won the scratch ticket this week

John did not win the 50/50 raffle. The pot stands at $29.
