Welcome to the 2024-2025 Rotary Year! (Jun. 28, 2024)

Our most recent meeting was held on Thursday evening, June 27 at The Jockey Club in Raynham.

We welcomed Rotary Scholarship recipients and their parents who were unable to attend our Rotary Scholarship Program held on June 13, 2024 at Stoneforge. We also welcomed John Cody, son of Dennis Cody and brother of Maureen Cody.

Club members observed a moment of silence in memory of Past President Robert Wesley Boyden who recently passed away in Naples, Florida. Bob Boyden was an exemplary Rotarian and a fine human being. Our condolences to Bob's wife Carol and his three sons Richard, Douglas and Steven and all of Bob's grandchildren. A life well lived. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - PAUL HARRIS FELLOW AWARD

Outgoing President Joe took great pleasure in announcing the Taunton Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award

to Dan LeBrun. Joe said it was the unanimous vote of our Club's Officers and Board of Directors that Dan

be honored with this year's Paul Harris Fellow. Joe gave an eloquent and heartfelt presentation noting the

myriad of reasons why Dan is an exemplary Rotarian and so deserving of our Club's highest honor. (Dan is

presently at Massachusetts General Hospital and will be presented his Paul Harris Award upon his return).

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
President Joe introduced Past President Bob Rezendes who then presented checks to the Rotary Club of Taunton 2024 Scholarship recipients:

Cali Mello who was accompanied by her dad George and mom Christie; Nevaeh Coelho who was accompanied by her mom Kim; and Maggie Terpeny

... members marked the formal installation of our club's officers for the 104th year of our club.

President Joe welcomed everyone to our Club's Annual Installation of Officers Program and then turned the Program over to Maureen Cody and Ed Fowler. Maureen and Ed read the descriptions and responsibilities of all the newly elected Club officers for the 2024-2025 Rotary year as they were installed.

The entire club sends our congratulations to Joe Mitchell for a wonderful 2023-2024 Rotary year as president. Welcome to President George Mendros who will be leading the club in the year ahead.

Congratulations to all of the incoming officers and our thanks to those board members whose terms just finished. We appreciate everyone's Service Above Self and look forward to a great year ahead.

President Joe Mitchell contributed some Happy and Sad Bucks because his year as President is ending but he has enjoyed every minute of it. Joe was pleased with the smooth transition of his office to our Club's new President George Mendros.
Dick S. donated some memorial Bucks in honor of long-time Rotarian Bob Boyden who recently passed away. Dick noted what a great man Bob was and how he helped shape the Taunton Development Corporation and Myles Standish Industrial Park. Dick acknowledged Bob as a community leader who embodied Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self."
Russ M. offered some Happy Bucks to congratulate the Scholarship recipients present. Russ also congratulated the Club for a smooth transition and its new President George Mendros.
David T. contributed some Happy Bucks to congratulate our new Club President George Mendros.
Ed F. donated some happy memorial bucks in memory of Past President Bob Boyden. Ed recalled one of Bob's talks to the Club about being one of the first Jet plane pilots to successfully cross the Atlantic Ocean. Besides being a Captain of Industry Bob was a Lt. Colonel in the USAF. A great American.
George M. gave $10.00 Happy Bucks to acknowledge long-time Rotarians and good friends Dennis Cody, Russel Martorana, Judge Elizabeth Teixeira-Ferraro, and the late Claire Fowler.
Zulmira A. donated some happy and congratulatory bucks to outgoing President Joe Mitchell, incoming President George Mendros, and all of the newly installed Club officers and Board members.
John D. offered some Happy Bucks because he was pleased to be at our Club's Installation and he congratulated all the new officers and members of the board of directors.
