From the President

President Joe gave his State of the Club Adress as he ended his second term as our club's president. With many accomplishments of his tenure to choose from, Joe highlighted the more than $20,000 given away to local charitable and non-profit groups. He was pleased with the success of Pancake and Family Fun Day as well as maintaining a "thrifty" approach to the operating budget. "In the Community Meetings" were both cost-saving measures and a good way for the club to connect with our members and member organizations, and something he hopes will continue. He also fondly remembers the social outings, to Sakana Hibachi and The Jockey Club to name just two.

A recognition of service: Following the meeting, the newly-elected Board voted to name Dennis Cody Honorary Assistant Treasurer for his many years of service to the club. Congratulations, Dennis!

Last Week's Speaker

We had a busy program of events at our most recent meeting.

First, the club honored Past President Joe Mitchell with a Paull Harris Fellowship (his second) for his years of commitment and good work on behalf of Rotary International.

Next, Ed Fowler informed the club that Rosie Jones and Kate Hood will be arriving July 15. If you are able to assist as a night host and/or take our two guests on an activity during their time here, please be in touch with Ed as he is making the schedule right now.

Maureen and Beth then presided over the installations of the 2019-2020 club officers. Thanks to those who are moving off the board, and thanks to those who are serving in our club's 98th year.

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Zulmira had $5 for thanks and news. Thank you to the raffle donors and the raffle team for all their work and support at Family Fun Day. She also let the club know that Dan went to Good Samaritan Wednesday night after some chest pains. She asked members to keep Dan in your thoughts and send him positive vibes. She also thanked Debbie for being her guest for lunch.
Charlene had 4 bucks. The first was sad for her last visit as our Assistant Governor. She then added a happy buck for Joe, a happy buck for Carol, and a happy buck for her upcoming term as District Governor-elect.
Carol Sullivan was happy for Debbie and Charlene as guests. She is happy to be serving as our next president. And had a sad dollar for the news about Dan.
Joe M. had happy bucks and thanks to Joe Livingston.
Dave C. added 5 happy bucks for Joe L.'s commitment to the club.
Rich V. added thank you bucks for Joe and Carol and a buck sending his good thoughts to Dan.
Beth had 10 happy bucks! She was happy to be with us. Happy for Joe. Happy for Carol. And, again, just very happy to be able to join us for the installations.
Ed had 5 bucks. He offered thanks to Joe and Charlene. Thanks to Rich, Dave, and Zulmira for their work on Family Fun Day. He also added an info buck about the recent shark attack as Rose Island in the Bahamas, informing the club that Rose Island is the opening island shot from Gilligan's Island.
John D. had a happy buck for Dick Shafer who came in after him, making him not late. He let the club know he would never volunteer to be President after hearing is described as giving birth. And he added a "sad" buck for his in-laws leaving to head back to Florida.
Joe L. was happy for taking a vacation next week with nothing on his schedule. He offered thanks to the board and club members he worked with during his Rotary Year(s). And he sent his best wishes to Dan.
