Club News & Announcements

Last week, the Rotary Club of Taunton and friends gathered for one of the most rewarding evenings of the Rotary year—our Annual Awards Dinner. The celebration marked the culmination of a year of service, fundraising, and community partnership, as the Club distributed more than $17,000 in donations and scholarships to local nonprofits and deserving students.

These awards are made possible through the generosity of our sponsors, supporters, and community partners, as well as the dedication of our members throughout the year. In particular, the success of our signature fundraising event, Family Fun Day, allows us to reinvest in organizations and individuals who are making a difference throughout the Greater Taunton area.

The evening also provided an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year, recognize outstanding Rotarians, and thank President Bob Rezendes for his leadership and service. As one Rotary year came to a close, we were also pleased to welcome Jennifer Oldfield as our incoming President and look forward to another year of living out Rotary's motto of Service Above Self.

The following awards and recognitions were presented during the evening. Congratulations to all of this year's recipients!

(P.S. No meeting this week. Happy Independence Day!)

(P.P.S. Thank you to Ed and Mike for all the photos! They will also be added to our club's website and shared to Facebook.)

At Our Most Recent Meeting...

Bob's year as president came to a close and he handed the gavel over to incoming president Jennifer Oldfield!

The club awarded six scholarships this year to students who embody our motto, "Service Above Self." This year's scholarship recipients are:
  • Aubrey Sylvia, Dighton-Rehoboth High School
  • Serenity Cross, Bristol-Plymouth High School
  • Kaisten LaValle, Taunton High School
  • Corbin Melo, Taunton High School
  • Lily Moreira, Bridgewater-Raynham High School
  • Ava Andrade, Somerset-Berkley High School
Three recipients were able to join us to receive their awards. Congratulations to all!

Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of charitable contributions to organizations serving our community. The Rotary Club of Taunton was able to award donations to 14 local organizations whose work strengthens the Greater Taunton area. These gifts are made possible through our fundraising efforts, particularly our signature annual event, Family Fun Day, which continues to bring our community together while generating critical support for Rotary's charitable mission. We are grateful to everyone who helps make this impact possible. This year's donations are to:
  • AHS–TASC
  • Boys & Girls Club of Metro South
  • Children's Advocacy Center
  • CO-OP
  • Easterseals Massachusetts
  • Girls Inc.
  • Junior Achievement
  • Old Colony History Museum
  • Pine Street School
  • Pride, Inc.
  • School on Wheels of Massachusetts
  • Taunton River Watershed Alliance
  • YMCA
  • Barbara Grenier

We had the pleasure of hearing from two students our club sponsored to attend RYLA this year. They shared their experiences from the program and reflected on the leadership lessons and friendships they gained along the way. We were proud to support their participation and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in their schools and communities.

The Club also celebrated three members with a Paul Harris Award, in recognition of their service to the club. This year's recipients are Dave Correia (pictured), Katie MacDonald, and Christine Kelley. Congratulations to all!

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us, and for a wonderful 2025-2026 Rotary Year!
