Club News & Announcements
From the President
At our most recent meeting, Carol offered her congrats to Jody and Don on reelection! She reminded the club to sell those scratch tickets. A recent issue of the Taunton Daily Gazette was passed around featuring Bob Resendez and his donation to the Matthew Mission on behalf of Rotary.

We passed the basket to start collecting for the upcoming Head Start Kids' Christmas Party. We will pass it a few more times ahead of the event. Also passed was a sign-up sheet for the annual Christmas luncheon at the High School. The luncheon will be on December 5th and we need a headcount by November 15.

Upcoming Events:
  • The Annual Rotary Foundation Dinner will be November 14 at White's of Westport.
  • November 21 will be a Family Fun Day committee formation meeting during our regular lunch meeting.
  • Rotary's Providence Bruins night is November 22.

Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting, we were pleased to welcome fellow Rotarian John Danahey of Nerds To Go Taunton to speak to the club. John's talk highlighted ways to alleviate cyber stress in small and medium-sized businesses. Some of his tips were to be sure that your business has a written information security plan that is reviewed annually, be sure to automatically update operating system patches on your machines, and install a VPN on any device that connects to wifi off your network. In general, Nerds to Go can help answer: What do you have? What do you need it to do? and How does it work for you? and help align those questions with both your needs and budget.

Thanks to John for speaking to the club and offering such an informative presentation!

Happy Bucks
Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
  • Dick had a sad buck for the recent passing of Hal Goren.
  • Bob Hunt had 2 sad bucks for Hal Goren; his colleague for over 40 years and a  Rotarian for 54 1/2 years.
  • John D. had a happy buck (following his talk) to no longer be talking.
  • Julie had a happy buck for her guest, Pete DeAngelis of the Winthrop Street Baptist Church. She had a second happy buck for her younger son turning 14.
  • Ed had a buck for a recent family wedding in Indiana and then a conference in Nashville. He offered his endorsement of The National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.
  • Carol thanked Kiwanis for joining us and used 10 happy bucks to buy a Flag of Courage to support their fundraiser.
