Happy & Sad Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

  • Rich is happy that is son is off to college and that means the house is now empty. His wife is sad for the same reason.
  • Jackie is happy because she is going to Patriots game tonight. She'll add another buck on behalf of the bank if George agrees to let her leave early!
  • Phil had a buck for having his house back from guests, who have been visiting since the Thursday after the Fourth of July!
  • Stephanie had a happy buck to be back at a meeting after a successful summer kids camp at the Y.
  • Carol was happy that all the grandkids are off to school: Emmanuel, BP. and Raynham Middle School.
  • Joe L was happy for his recent trip to Livingston, Montana. He also had a happy buck for the start of the Giants season on Sunday.
  • Dave C. had a happy buck for his three-year old starting preschool at Leddy today.
  • Dan L. had two happy bucks. The first was for the upcoming AHS Spaghetti Supper for which he and Kit are selling tickets. The second was for the TASC business recognition dinner coming up in October, for which he is accepting sponsorship. He had a sad buck for his son who suffered a separated shoulder in a mountain biking accident, leaving Dan to drive his son's standard car with 230,000 miles!
  • Mike Q. had a happy buck for his kids also being back to school--notably his son who is at Mass Maritime and looking forward to welcoming in the new recruits.

Program Speaker
Our speaker at our last meeting was President Joe Livingston, who spoke about his goal and vision for his Rotary year. Joe's motivation is the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self." He would like to find some community projects that Rotarians are already involved in and lend the support of Rotarians to these worthy causes. In addition to finding worthy causes to put the Rotary name and effort behind, President Joe would like to get the Rotary symbol out there more and promote all the work that we do more widely in the community. Joe is open to discussing ideas with anyone and everyone who wants to be involved and is excited about what the upcoming year will bring.

At our upcoming meeting on Thursday, September 15, Rich Volkmann is our Program Chair. Rich has arranged for Lori & Cory Palazzi to present to us. They are representing Cory's Cause, which was was founded in 2016 after Cory Palazzi suffered a Heroin Overdose in 2013 which left him permanently disabled. A 501-C3 non-profit organization, their goal goal is to help  families by sharing Cory's story in the hopes of educating individuals and their families about drug addiction and providing support and resources for treatment.
