Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting, we were pleased to welcome Healthier Baylies-Grigoreas, co-chair of the Taunton Special Education Parent Advisory Council. Heather is a 5-year co-chair of the advisory council. She has three children all in the Taunton Public School system and saw the increase in the need for SEPAC here in Taunton. The Taunton SEPAC is a group of parent volunteers committed to helping all families access educational, community and family support services for their special education students. Their membership is offered to all parents of children with disabilities and other interested parties. The advisory council's duties include, but are not limited to, advising the school committee on matters that pertain to the education and safety of students with disabilities, meeting regularly with school officials to participate in planning, development, and evaluation of the school committee's special education programs. They host many workshops a special education rights and many resource fairs for all.  Thanks to Heather for sharing her work with our club.
