Carol was pleased to say that the bowling social, while lightly attended, was a lot of fun. Thanks to all who joined in.
October 20 was a big Rotary day. First, Board members welcomed our District Governor prior to our regular lunch meeting with a productive business meeting. Following our lunch meeting, several club members were able to attend an Interact Meeting at Taunton High School. Finally, a regular Board meeting was held at 5:30 in Kit's Board room at 68 Allison Ave. We appreciate the time donated by all in these efforts!
A reminder...KEEP SELLING RAFFLE TICKETS! We want to sell all 400 to fill up our scholarship fund coffers.They are good stocking stuffers, office gifts, and someone is going to win 100, $10 scratch tickets. It could be you!
The Providence Bruins game is coming up on November 5th. Tickets are $15 with $5 going directly to the Polio Plus campaign of the Rotary Foundation. It would be great to see strong Rotary support at this event.
President Carol then turned the mic over to Ed Fowler to welcome new members to the club. All were very happy to have a group pinning ceremony and that Rotary District Governor, Russell Bertrand and Assistant Governor, Charlene Jarest were able to join us. Welcome new members! There are some photos on the website of the pinning ceremony for all who are interested.
Scratch Ticket Raffle is on! The winner will receive One Hundred $10.00 scratch tickets. The raffle will be pulled on a date to be announced.

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
Joe Mitchell had four happy bucks this week. He was happy to have gone before the School Committee recently to make donations from his year as President. (We also now have the Pancake and Family Fun Day application in already for this year's event.) Joe's other three bucks were for 1. attending the Rotary Club of the Bridgewaters Citizen of the Year celebration 2. the fun time at the bowling social 3. to our guests for joining us today.
Charlene Jarest had 2 bucks. The first was happy, for all the fun she has traveling to clubs with Russ and Karen. The second was sad because this is their last trip together and she'll miss doing it.
Linda Quinn (new member!) was happy to have joined the club. And also to continue to see and work with a number of people she has enjoyed working with in the past.
Christine K. had a sad buck for not having attended recently. She had a happy buck to announce the Chamber's Oktoberfest taking place at Occasions in Raynham from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m on 10/21.
Kerrie added a buck for the Oktoberfest announcement.
Dick S. was happy to be back from a recent trip to the hot air balloon festival in New Mexico. He got to go on a balloon ride as well, scratching off another bucket list item.
Mike Duff (new member!) was happy to have joined the club. And happy to report that his grandson already knows that Thursday is Taunton Rotary day because that's the day Mike drinks lemonade at lunch. (Too cute!)
John B. was happy to welcome the new members to the club. He was happy to welcome our guests for the day. He was sad to have missed bowling this year. He then took us another another happy buck ride with a sad buck for the loss of his motorcycle, a happy buck for the new motorcycle that replaces the old one, and another happy buck for his wife's new motorcycle too.
Kit was happy for Dan who would have been here to promote his first TASC event himself, but he is working too hard. Congrats to Dan and best of luck for a great event.
Phil had 5 bucks. The first was sad for missing last week's meeting. But then he was happy for our guests, and one buck each for the three concerts he was involved in, in Cardiff and London last week. Congrats to Phil.
Bob Hunt had five very happy bucks to commemorate that 40 years ago on 10/21 he and Henry Gill joined Rotary together. Cheers to Bob on 40 years!
Jeff Walker (new member!) threw some money into the pot because he was happy to join the club. Originally it was $20 and he was looking for some change, but I am not sure how that one played out.
Ed had 2 happy bucks. The first was for a fun evening of bowling, and the second was a very happy buck to announce his daughter Missy is expecting a Rotarian grandchild! Great news!
At the October 20th meeting, we welcomed Rotary District 7950 Governor, Russell Bertrand who shared his background and goals for his years as District Governor. He also updated the club on recent changes to Rotary and encouraged all to get involved with the events he is planning for his Rotary year. Many thanks to Russell for his visit, his enthusiasm, and for what promises to be a busy year.
For this week's meeting Dick Shafer will introduce his daughter and our guest speaker, Attorney Suzanna Shafer, who specializes in immigration.
