President Joe Livingston welcomed everyone to our latest meeting, held at Stoneforge on Thursday, May 10, 2018.

Pancake Day Updates:

The flyer for Pancake and Family Fun Day is the header of this week's Mascot. It has also been added to the Rotary Website (https://portal.clubrunner.ca/5096) as a downloadable file. Please post, distribute, and share widely!
Food is being planned to replicate last year. Rich and Christine are coordinating.
Sponsorships had another good week. Dave has secured $5,700 and $500 for table ads. The goal is $8,500-$9000.
The flyer to sell ad space has now also been added to the website as a downloadable file. Use it to sell, sell, sell!
Joe Mitchell is working on the insurance details.
We are waiting for school flyer approval from Taunton schools. Then the flyer will go to Raynham and then Dighton, if there are enough. Joe Livingston is handling this.

Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting, Kit Tunney arranged for a presentation by representatives of Morton Hospital. The Club welcomed Deborah Bitsoli, President of Morton Hospital; Emilio Belaval, MD, FAAEM, Chief of Emergency Services; Jacquie Martin, MSN, RN, Patient Care Director, Critical Care; and Julie Masci, Director of Marketing, Public Affairs & Community Health Programs. Deborah, Emilio, and Jacquie shared their reasons for taking on leadership roles at Morton Hospital, their vision for the future of the emergency department in particular, and some of the successes they have achieved in recent months. It was interesting to learn that the Morton Hospital Emergency Department sees an average of 140 visitors a day and around 56,000 visitors each year. They are working to shorten the wait time before a patient sees a doctor, and this is best done by redesigning flow operations. The goal is always to maintain patient care excellence but reduce the amount of time waiting for tests or having a patient take a bed who instead needs to go have an x-ray. Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Harry had two happy bucks. The first was for attending his grandson's Eagle Scout ceremony in Bangor, Maine. The second is for his next grandson who is following in the same footsteps.
Dave C. had a happy buck for the Celtics closing out the 76ers. He had a second happy buck because he will be heading out on a cruise to the Caribbean for vacation.
Carol had a sad buck and a happy buck. She was happy to have received an award at the Pro Home Annual Dinner last night. She was sad because she had the date wrong in her calendar and wasn't there to accept the award!
Ryan was happy to be back. He was also happy to have been in South Carolina recently to see his song graduate. He was sad that his son has since moved back in with him. But he was happy that his son has three job interviews this week so the stay may be short.
Mike Duff had two happy bucks. The first was for a successful Pro Home Annual Dinner. The second was for the Yankees going for the sweep against the Red Sox.
Joe L. was sad that he had to shave the beard for a community theater role that required it. He had a nervous buck for the Spartan Spring he has coming up this weekend .But he was happy that the recent Scouting breakfast went very well.
