At Our Most Recent Meeting...
...our Rotary Foundation Chair and Past President, Joe Mitchell, shared an engaging overview of the Rotary Foundation and our club’s philanthropic impact. He highlighted the history of the “Million Dollar Meal,” a proud tradition that reflects our members’ collective commitment to giving, and offered insight into how our contributions support both local initiatives and global Rotary efforts. Joe also recognized Phil Roberston who served as our club's Foundation Chair for many years.
Below is a club Fundraising Analysis, July 2025-March 2026.
At the end of Foundation Chair Joe Mitchell's program, he opened the floor to a Q & A session. Joe fielded questions from several Rotarians, including Ed Fowler, George Mendros, and Julie Ochs. Questions regarding the Foundation's Shelter Box Program and other programs were handled with aplomb by Foundation chair Joe. Thanks, Joe, for a very comprehensive and well-prepared program.
Ed Fowler donated some Happy Bucks touting the wonderful exploits of his granddaughter and their respective softball teams. Ed reported that his granddaughters are competing at a very high
level with exceptional softball teams from the area, some at national softball team levels.
Mike Cancilliere contributed some Happy Bucks to thank Bob and Barbara Hunt for their delicious Clam Chowder at our Million Dollar Foundation luncheon. Mike also gave some happy bucks to
tout his Cooperative Production's Celebration and Gala 2026 event to be held at the Century House Ballroom in Achushnet, MA on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Reception is 5:30 PM and Dinner
is 6:30 PM. For tickets: cooperativeproduction.org/gala
Zulmira gave some Happy Bucks to honor her father-in-law who is out and about at 99 years old. At 99 he does not need eye glasses, makes frequent visits to the cemetery and in general is doing quite well.
Carol Souza donated a number of Happy Bucks to thank Chefs Bob and Barbara Hunt for their
on-going support of the Rotary Foundation by hosting our Club's Annual Million Dollar Meal and ChowDAH Fest.
Jackie Theis threw in a goodly number of Happy Bucks to honor Bob and Barbara Hunt for their dedication and culinary skills in making our Million Dollar Meal a wonderful annual event.
George Mendros tossed in some Comedic Bucks to delay Foundation Chairman Joe Mitchell from beginning his talk.
Joe Mitchell donated a number of Happy Bucks as compensations to Club members who will
attentively and patiently sit through his Foundation Program.
David Tipping contributed some Happy Bucks in recognition of his 40th Anniversary as a member
of the Taunton Rotary Club. Congratulations Dave! Applause!
