From the President

President Carol thanked everyone who was able to come to the Interact Dinner and celebrate the students. It was a very nice turnout. A reminder that the Interact Club is going to be hosting a Paint Night fundraiser in support of Water for Cambodia on March 26th. It will be held at Taunton High School and tickets will be $25. There will be no lunch meeting that day.

Ed gave an England program update, which is that things are still up in the air.

A reminder that this week's meeting is at Pilgrim Church at noon. It is our Million Dollar Meal. Please bring drinks or desserts for the group. Thanks to Jackie Theis, you CAN park at Bristol County Savings Bank and walk over to the Church. Thanks, Jackie!

What's a Million Dollar Meal?

That's a pretty expensive breakfast you have there. Actually a Million Dollar Meal is no meal at all, but a way to give to the Rotary Foundation. The Million Dollar Meal concept was started in 1959 by a club in our area ( Stoughton). It is now an established part of Rotary International fundraising for The Rotary Foundation. We cook for ourselves (thanks, Bob and team) and donate the weekly food bill to the Rotary Foundation. Since it's beginnings in Stoughton, Rotary clubs throughout the world continue to use the 'Million Dollar Meal' program as a method to fundraise for The Rotary Foundation and other charities.

At our most recent meeting, Dan LeBrun served as the sponsor for our newest Rotarian, Rebecca Raposa. Rebecca has recently assumed the role of Program Director, Taunton Area School to Career Program. Rebecca gave her classification talk about her excitement for joining TASC, her past experiences, and her hobbies. Welcome, Rebecca!

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Joe M. had a buck for going to the Bruins game recently. On the way home, he was in a car accident but is ok and was happy about that. He also had a happy buck because he loves being in the left room upstairs for Rotary meetings.
Ed had a buck for his daughter who had 3 kids and usually drives a minivan. She recently borrowed her husband's new Lexus and got a dent in the driver's door. When they got the bill for the "easy job" the repair is $4,700.
Joe L. had a "sorry" buck to have missed the Interact meeting, but he was excited to announce that he has accepted a job with the Mayflower Council starting March 1. Sadly, he may have to leave our club. He had a buck for almost going to the Bruins game last Saturday and another happy buck for his dad's recent 69th birthday. He had one more extra happy buck for something he forgot.
Johnny B. had a happy buck for being at the meeting. He had a very happy buck to hear that Joe M is ok. He had a sad buck for his brother-in-law who has not been doing well. One week a month he's been traveling to Maryland to help. He had 3 final bucks in hopes that things will get easier moving forward and he'll be able to attend more meetings.
Dan L. had 3 sad/appreciate bucks. His mother-in-law recently passed away, Father Perry recently passed away, and his wife is having rotator cuff surgery soon. Thanks to everyone for their kind words and support. In happier news, he had a buck for his grandson, who scored all 10 points in a recent 10-10 tie at kindergarten Y basketball.
Dick also had a happy buck for his grandson's basketball enthusiasm. Dick is paying $1 for shots made in a game and is up to $10 this season. He also spent an enjoyable afternoon at Fore Kicks with his grandson and some friends and is glad they chose Taunton for this great business.

John D. was happy to be working with PRIDE in upgrading hardware, replacing servers, and saving them lots of money. He was also happy to be speaking next week at the Quest Center for Innovation Mass Small Business seminar.
Carol had a happy Grandmother buck. Her granddaughter also had a great basketball weekend.
Julie had a happy buck to have won 4 tickets to a concert. She also had a sad buck for some tough situations at home and looking forward to being on the other side of them.
