Our most recent meeting was held at the Stoneforge. President Bob opened our weekly meeting by ringing the Rotary bell and thanked everyone for attending. In his opening remarks he gave a shout out to Bob and Barbara Hunt for providing Club members with a wonderful 'Million Dollar Meal' and ChowDAH luncheon at the Pilgrim Church last week. Special thanks went to Foundation Chair Joe Mitchell for last week's program.
Next up President Bob reminded everyone to keep our Annual Family Fun Day on the front burner and encouraged everyone to solicit sponsorships, ads, and to sign up to volunteer for this fundraising event.
Foundation Chair and President-elect Joe Mitchell gave a Foundation minute. Joe spoke of all the opportunities to serve Foundation projects through many District and International offerings. Joe gave us an update on the Foundation's work providing Clean Water, Housing, Peace programs and a host of other projects that the Rotary Foundation invested over $250,000,000.00 in. Joe and Rotary's Foundation received a well-deserved round of applause.

At our most recent meeting...
...we enjoyed a classification talk from Scott Holcomb, Principal of Taunton High. Scott began by saying he was happy to be a member of the Taunton Rotary Club and apologized for missing some meetings because of the complex nature of being a high school principal.
Mr. Holcomb spoke of his early years growing up in a family of Veterans and a hard-working family. Beginning at 13 years old Scott worked many different jobs from Morin's Restaurant to the deli department at Walmart. He spoke about the joy of becoming a teacher and his life-long connection to many of his students who later played an important part in his life. One student in particular went on to Harvard Medical School and became a specialist in blood diseases. When Scott's father needed a bone marrow transplant, former student Dr. Patel not only helped but was a match and became a donor for his father.
Principal Holcomb has over 16 years administrative experience including serving as the superintendent of North Attleboro Public Schools. In addition he has worked as the Assistant Superintendent and High School Principal at North Attleboro Public Schools and was a former teacher and then Assistant Principal at Seekonk High School. Further, Scott has worked as an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University and as a science teacher at Hopkinton and Bellingham High Schools. Scott has over 25 years of experience in education and holds a Certificate of Advanced Educational Specialization in Administration from Boston College, a Masters Degree in teaching and a Bachelor's Degree in biology and chemistry from Bridgewater State University. Presently Scott is pursuing a Doctor of Education degree and holds certifications as a Superintendent, Business Manager and Principal for high schools. Scott has too many accomplishments in education to mention here and is certainly a well-qualified individual to lead Taunton High School.
John Danahey donated some Happy/Sad Bucks to give us an update on his Dad's health. It looks like his Dad will be entering rehabilitation soon. John also was glad that a former Sgt. Major he served in the military with invited him to a very special Veteran's luncheon. John was happy about being invited and noted that over 200 Veterans attended.
Willits contributed some Happy/Sad bucks because he missed the Million Dollar Meal due to previous commitments, but Happy bucks for the nice THS Interact Night recently sponsored by our Club at the Home Plate Restaurant. Will was especially happy and thankful for our Club donating $1,000 to the Interact Club's Shelter Box Ukrainian project.
Carol Sullivan gave some Sad buck's because she didn't have a report regarding "Rotarians in the News", but some Happy Bucks because her daughter Becky had her picture in the Taunton Daily Gazette. Carol's daughter Becky is running for office in the Town of Raynham.
George Mendros tossed in some Happy Bucks to show off the bright orange Baltimore Orioles shirt he was wearing in support of the Orioles opening day game against the Boston Red Sox.at Fenway Park.
Ed Fowler contributed some Happy Bucks because reports from Dana Farber indicate that things are going good for Claire. Yeah!
Julie Ochs gave some Sad Bucks because she missed the Million Dollar Meal and ChowDAH Fest but added some Happy Bucks because it was an anniversary year for her joining Rotary.
President Bob donated some Happy Bucks because his wife was discharged from Mass General and is doing better. Yeah!
