12:00 p.m. at Stoneforge

Club News & Announcements

Our most recent meeting was held on Thursday, October 3rd at Home Plate, led by President George Mendros. We welcomed George's guest, Susan Farley.

Our next Board meeting will be on October 8th, via Zoom. Board members are expected to attend and club members are invited to attend.

Carol Sullivan shared Rotarians in the News.

Club members were glad to hear that De LeBrun is now recovering at home.

Interact News:

On October 26th the Interact Club will be participating in the City of Taunton’s annual ‘Trunk or Treat’ event distributing candy. Their e-board has asked if members of our Rotary Club could consider donating candy and help the Interact Club avoid the need to purchase any candy for this event. You can bring candy to a Rotary meeting and we will get it to the Interact Club.

At our most recent meeting...

...we welcomed Kimberly Thomas, CEO/Executive Director of Old Colony Habitat for Humanity. Their mission is: Dedicated to providing decent and affordable housing in partnership with families in need, Old Colony Habitat for Humanity is all of us working together, partnering with families to improve their housing, locally and around the world. Building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

The organization has built 10 homes since 1989 and serves 25 communities in Bristol and Norfolk counties. As CEO, Kim's goal is to do a build every year. They are currently working on a home in Taunton, and have some land in trust in Norton and Franklin. Kim also shared about their ReStore which helps support their efforts. Thanks to Kim for joining us for lunch!

Happy & Sad Bucks

  • Zulmira had 3 bucks--Thanks to everyone who came to the spaghetti supper; the Wine Tasting is  coming up (see flyer!); and Pierre asked her to remind everyone he is looking for mentors!
  • Dave C. had a happy buck that he got word that Morton is paying their $1,000 sponsorship for last year's Family Fun Day.
  • Ed had two sad dollars for recent losses in the Renshaw family-a family from Taunton, England that has been very involved in our exchange program over the years. He added a happy buck that while treasure hunting at the Raynham Flea, he found a 1906 Denver Double Eagle Gold Coin, which was then graded at MS 63, and took a $2,500 investment and turned it into a $6,000 treasure find.
  • Carol Sullivan had a happy buck to be going to Vermont with Becky this weekend to visit Meghan. And she had a happy buck for Becky, who works for the town of Dighton and is bringing Dighton's voting box and a lesson to help teach the 3rd graders about elections.
