At our most recent meeting, October 19th, President Joe presided over our Club's meeting.
President Joe passed around a Newsletter regarding Rotary's success in its' Clean Water projects. In Cambodia alone Rotary has constructed 70,000 "Clean Water Filters" improving the lives of countless Cambodians.
President Joe asked members to sign a "Get Well" card for Bob Hunt who is recovering from hip surgery.
A reminder that the Rotary Foundation Dinner will be November 9th at the Venus de Milo. If folks are interested in attending, let Joe know and Taunton Rotary can book a table for this event.
Foundation Minute with Phil Robertson. Phil encouraged everyone to read the most recent Rotarian Magazine for articles relating to the Foundation. Always good reading.
At our most recent meeting on October 19th we had Peter Huong as our guest speaker courtesy of Rich Volkmann. Peter is originally from South Korea. He is the Executive Manager of the USLF, which is the Non-Profit parent organization promoting the Martial Arts in public schools. Peter's day job is as a jeweler in NYC. He works with a myriad of people promoting the arts, fundraising concerts with major celebrities to help fund the martial arts program in public schools. Peter is presently promoting concerts with major stars like Eminem from New York to China. The philosophy is that kids do better in school when enrolled in the martial arts program because it teaches disciple, self-esteem, time management, physical activity, a healthy life style, to mention just a few. Peter promotes the martial arts in elementary, middle, and high schools, and upon graduation from High School a student can qualify to be a martial arts instructor. Fundraising, the arts, concerts, teaching, and mentoring are part of Peter's daily work.

Rich Volkmann donated a happy buck to thank our guest speaker for being with us.
Our guest speaker Peter Huong tossed in a happy buck to say "You're Welcome" to Rich and the club.
Willits Mendonca tossed in some happy bucks to give us an update on Harry Rose's medical condition. Harry is doing well and is expected back at the office soon. In addition, Willits touted Liberty and Union Weekend and the excitement generated for young people with the Scarecrow contest.
Charlene Jarest, District 7950 Assistant Governor, contributed a happy buck because she was very happy to be with us at the Taunton Club.
Phil Robertson gave some happy bucks because he was very proud that his wife Anne was inducted into the Smith College Athletic Hall of Fame. Kudos to Anne Robertson.
Dan LeBrun donated a couple of happy bucks to remind everyone about the upcoming TASC Dinner to be held on Wednesday evening, October 25, 2017.
President Joe Livingston threw in some happy bucks because the Boys Scouts recruiting program was going well. In addition, Joe and his wife took a Monday off just to enjoy the day. AND President Joe's beloved NY Giants finally won a game. As we go to press the Giants are 1 and 6.
