Club News & Announcements
Our most recent meeting was held on December 19 led by President George Mendros. We welcomed Visiting Rotarian Jann Alden to our meeting. We had quite a bit of celebrating and holiday cheer!
We send our congratulations to Dave Tipping who, by the time you read this, will have retired from Bristol County Savings Bank after an incredible 38 years of dedicated service! Your colleagues and community deeply appreciate all you've done, and we wish you nothing but happiness, good health, and new adventures in your retirement. Congrats to Dave!
We also took a moment to celebrate a special occasion—our wonderful server and club liaison, Matt's birthday! 🥳 George presented Matt with a birthday/holiday/general "thank you" gratuity on behalf of the club, and we sang "Happy Birthday" to Matt.
Then! At the end of our meeting, Jann presented our guest speaker Andy Dawley, with several gifts for the clients of CCBC on behalf of Bristol County Savings Bank.
To all members of the Rotary Club of Taunton:
Wishing you and your loved ones a season filled with happiness, warmth, and peace. Here’s to a bright and successful new year ahead!
At Our Most Recent Meeting...
...we welcomed Andy Dawley, President/CEO of Community Counseling of Bristol County (CCBC). CCBC is one of the recipients of a Rotary donation, and this year we are inviting donation recipients to speak to the club about how our donation will help the people they serve. Andy shared that CCBC started as a professional counseling service which grew into a broader social services organization. Headquartered in Taunton, they have 750 employees who serve 15,000-18,000 people a year throughout Southeastern Mass. In addition to a wide variety of services, they work in more than 70 schools and provide 24/7 emergency services for the Taunton/Attleboro area. CCBC's goal is to create a continuum of care that allows our clients to receive the level of care that best meets their needs and assists them in achieving their goals. You can learn more about their work on their website. We thank Andy for joining us for lunch!
Dave C. had happy/thankful bucks to Carol, Carol, Mike T., the Hunts and everyone involved in the Kids' Christmas party. He had a sad buck to to have missed the high school luncheon, but it was because he was away at Lake Placid for a hockey tournament where he was happy that his son's team took home silver. Finally, he had a happy buck for Andy being here today. CCBC is a long-term Family Fun Day sponsor and we are grateful for our partnership.
Mike C. was happy to be back after a few weeks away.
Carol Sullivan was happy to see Andy and Jann. Happy that the kids' party was great. Happy to have dropped off 500 pairs of mittens with Mike on behalf of the club.
Carol Souza was happy to see Jann Alden and happy for Carol Sullivan and her efforts, especially the work she puts into the kids' Christmas party.
Zulmira was sad to miss the kids' party, happy to have received mittens. and happy to have attended the luncheon and concert the week before
Joe M. was happy to see Jann; happy for the two recent events put on by club members, and happy for the Celtics, who are playing well.
Dave T. had a Happy/Sad Buck because he was retiring 12/20!
George had a bad buck that tomorrow is Dave Tipping's last day at the bank; but a happy buck that Dave hired him back in May 1985 and that they got to work together ever since
Jann gave us 7 happy bucks for Dave, and for being able to see friends from the club.
Mike T. shared bucks that Will will/has sent via Venmo thanking everyone involved in the mitten donations and the kids' Christmas party, with a special shout out to the Interact kids who volunteered at the event.
______________________________ Mike T. won the scratch ticket this week.
Mike C. did not win the 50/50 raffle. The pot stands at $118.
