From the President

Our most recent meeting was held on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Stoneforge. Joe shared an update that he attended the most recent PETS training, which he found inspiring. He is excited for his next chapter in Rotary as AG!

Lots of upcoming calendar items:

March 21 will be our club Spelling Bee to send a team to the TASC Spelling Bee.
March 28 our speaker will be Superintendent John Cabral.
Tree planting event coming up this spring.
April 13 there is a District Assembly at Whites at Westport.
April 25 is the Pro-Home "Splash of Spring" event. There is no lunch meeting that day. Instead, Rotarians receive one ticket to the event at Quality Beverage. There are extra tickets available for sale if you know of someone who may like to attend.
On May 2 we will have our meeting at P.R.I.D.E. This meeting will start at 11 am with group activities (sign up if you have special skills to share) followed by lunch.
May 3rd - 4th is our District Conference 2019 at The Doubletree Hotel in Danvers Mass. We can get you more info if you are interested in attending
Joe's installation as AG will be June 17.

Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting, Zulmira was our Program Chair and our speaker was Janet Richardi, the Dementia Friendly Taunton Consultant and you might also know her as the Coordinator of the South Coast Regional Network to End Homelessness. Janet spoke to our club about Taunton becoming a Dementia Friendly community and about how local businesses and organizations can receive free one-hour training sessions at their places of business in order to build Dementia Friendly workplaces and employees.

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Will was happy to have Janet with us today. He had a thank you to those who attended the United Way event to celebrate a recent merger. For the same event, he had a "Sorry to have been late" buck, but he found out that his daughter had a first drama club lead at Parker and couldn't miss the show!
Zulmira had a happy buck for our speaker. And she had an "I'm going to be calling you for raffles" buck to let everyone know work on the raffles for Pancake and Family Fun Day is well underway.
Carol had 3 bucks. The first two were very happy and were for her two grandkids running the New Bedford Half Marathon. The other was a sad buck that after scaling Everest-like snow banks, seeing a broken parking meter, and taking the time to leave a quarter to make sure she was doing her civic duty, she still got a ticket at the Registry.
Dan L. had an info buck about the Pot-of-Gold raffle. I think it was worth his investment as sales immediately picked up at our table. Maybe it was the winner.
Joe M. had 2 happy bucks. for his healing left knee. In early February is knee started hurting out of nowhere and turned out to be a partially torn tendon. Just recently, he has been told to "resume normal activities" so we all hope that means you are fully healed!
Dick had 2 bucks. One was for a great Bristol County Savings Bank Annual Meeting where he particularly enjoyed the economic development video. On that same note, there is an upcoming meeting of the Mass Economic Development Council to be held at the former Reed and Barton facility to which all are invited.
John D. had a happy buck to have recently finished his Small Business Administration MBA program. And he has only one more week of classes left at WPI. He also had a sad tale of an unjust parking ticket and stands united with Carol.
Joe L. had a "What the heck at the Giants doing?" buck. He had a much more positive buck about being inspired at the recent PETS training by the polio workers who presented. It made him proud to be a part of Rotary for all the good work, and he learned that there are currently less than 50 cases of polio in the world.
Mike Tabak had a sad buck as he learned that Harry Rose is looking for prayers after a recent return to the hospital. All of us send our very best wishes to Harry!
Ed was happy for Joe's appreciation of his time at PETS and for going on behalf of our club. He also had a buck for the BP Robotics team which is on the rise and sounds very cool!
