At our most recent meeting, held on February 8th, Past President Rich Volkmann presided over our Club's meeting.

Rich thanked our chefs, Bob, Mike, Ed, and Claire, for all of their hard work toward a delicious Million Dollar Meal.

Next week's meeting is going to be a working meeting to get the club involved with the planning of this year's Pancake and Family Fun Day event.

Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting, we joined in the annual tradition of the Million Dollar Meal. Our chefs generously donated their time and efforts to making some delicious chowder which was paired with subs and lots of desserts. To everyone who contributed--we sincerely thank you!

Phil Robertson, as our club's Rotary Foundation Chairman, gave us a history of the Million Dollar Meal and an update on all of the good works of the Foundation. The Million Dollar Meal was started in 1955-56 at the Stoughton club. The idea was that if all of Rotary's 500,000 members saved their club $2 per meal by bringing their own meal, $1 million could be saved and sent to the Foundation. Since then the Meal and the Foundation have grown. The Foundation continues to be one of the highest rated charities in the world and has outreach efforts around the globe. There are a number of ways to get involved with the Foundation and Phil shared that he is happy to talk without anyone who may be interested about becoming involved in or donating to the Foundation.

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Jeff Walker had two sad bucks for missing the last two meetings. He claimed the absences were due to work, but we all really know that he was waiting for Rich to come pick him up for their trip to Aruba.
Johnny B. had a sad buck because he was still sad that Kit is retiring. He was sad because of Super Bowl 52. But he was happy that he recently he got to record a soundtrack for his band's website, in a professional studio, and he really enjoyed the experience.
Joe Mitchell had a very happy buck for his new granddaughter, Sylvia, born in Alaska to his son and daughter-in-law.
Phil had a happy buck because he is happy that our happy/sad bucks each week contribute to the Rotary Foundation.
Rich V. had a happy buck for his recent trip to Aruba. He was sad about the Super Bowl even though he was able to watch on a giant TV on the beach. His third buck was both happy and sad because of just learning that Kit is retiring!
