President's Announcements

This week President Carol began the meeting by welcoming our guests. She also passed around a Gazette article about AHS "Happy Days."

A card for Dave Tipping was passed around and we all send our very best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.

Dave C. had an update on the corporate sponsorship for Pancake and Family Fun Day. There are only three left--all at the $350 level. If anyone has any leads left please forward them to Dave.

Rich V. had an ad sponsor update. We still need ad sponsors for the program booklet. We know it isn't very fun to ask people for money, but if each Rotarian could secure 1 or 2 ads for the booklet, we'd be all set. Rich sent all the information you need for the ask in an email--so please try!

Next week will include a visit from our District Governor, Russell Bertrand and some Rotary awards. Please do your best to attend.

A meeting of the Board of Directors immediately followed our lunch meeting.

P.S. Don't forget that our raffle fundraiser is underway. We are selling $10.00 raffle tickets for a chance to win one hundred $10.00 scratch tickets. All Rotarians are encouraged to pick up at least 10 tickets from the Sergeant-at-Arms desk and begin selling them. Our raffle fundraiser will run through Pancake and Family Fun Day on June 17, 2017 and profits will go to support our youth programs.

Happy & Sad Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Rich had 5 happy bucks--all for his son receiving a Rotary Scholarship today!
Dan L. had an announcement buck for the Community Re-visioning Workshop to be held on Monday June 5 at Friedman Middle School. All members of the Taunton Community are invited to participate in the new 20-year Master Planning process for City.
Mike Quinn had a happy for Bob Hunt's shirt and a second happy buck to be participating in the 16th edition of our scholarship program today.
Carol had a happy buck to welcome Dennis Cody to the meeting. She had a second happy buck for all of the day's scholarship recipients.
Phil had 5 happy bucks--which were half of his winnings from his recent scratch ticket won at our meeting!
Dick S. was happy to have been at the grand opening of Martignetti facility last night. It was a great event with about 360 people. Martignetti is a great new anchor for the Industrial Park and Dick learned that the facility has 5,000 solar panels on the roof which allows it to generate a net profit on electricity over the course of the year.
Ed F. was happy for the success of the scholarship recipients and to welcome them to the meeting. He was happy for last week's program. He was happy to welcome Dennis Cody. And most happy to have just celebrated his 37th wedding anniversary. Congrats Ed and Claire!
Joe Mitchell was happy to see the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. He wasn't so happy with the first game, but very happy for the First Round Draft Lottery pick.

Program Speaker

At our most recent meeting, Thursday, May 18, 2017, Maureen Cody and Mike Quinn were the Program Chairs and the club celebrated the 16th Annual Scholarship Luncheon. We were pleased to recognize four local students, whose high school careers have exemplified the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self." The four students are excellent examples of hard work, academic achievement, and community service. We congratulate each of them and wish them the best of luck as they head off to college in the fall. This year's recipients are:

Our next meeting will be Thursday, May 25, 2017. Linda Quinn will serve as the the Program Chair and she has arranged for Carole Graves to present a talk about Shared Living and Adult Foster Care Programming.
