It is with a heavy heart, that this week our Rotary President, Joe Livingston, announced to the club that Phil Robertson had passed away at home on February 11th. Details for a memorial service will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to: The 300 Committee Land Trust (157 Locust Street, Falmouth, MA 02540) or ShelterBox (www.shelterbox.org). Arrangements are in the care of Crapo Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Avenue, Taunton, MA. Phil's obituary can be found here: http://www.hathawayfunerals.com/obituaries/Philip-Robertson-2/
Please note that next week is a regular meeting at Stoneforge. The following week, March 1, we will be at Hopewell School reading to the students and on March 8 we will be hosted by Marian Manor for a breakfast meeting. Details will be shared as they finalized .
At our most recent meeting, we held a working meeting to brainstorm about Pancake and Family Fun Day. Dave has been able to book all of the activities that we had last year, at only a slight increase in cost. The next big step for the club is advertising and fundraising. Corporate sponsors raised $8500 last year, and Dave was able to secure much of that funding through his efforts. The group assembled agreed we all need to use our networks to spread out the work and hopefully increase our corporate sponsors this year. We also talked about revising the ad booklet to streamline the ask and try to get as much out of our printing expenses as possible. Other potential revenue streams were discussed such as a 50/50 raffle or inviting food trucks to the event, and we all agreed to keep thinking about this to bring new ideas to a future meeting.
President Joe also started a conversation about the future of the club, and is interested in everyone's input. Please be on the lookout for a survey from Joe sometime this week.
