President Joe welcomed our District Governor Steve Certa and his wife Paula along with Area 7 Assistant District Governor Charlene Jarest.
President Joe once again asked our Club's involvement with the "Scouting for Food" Program Saturday, November 4, 2017. Volunteers needed at St. Mary's School, Corner of Broadway and Washington Streets.
President Joe announced that the Club's next Board of Director's Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 5:00 PM at AHS, courtesy of Kit Tunney.
Taunton Rotary Club HOCKEY NIGHT. Support Rotary District 7950 and the Providence Bruins as they team up to end Polio Now. $15.00 per person, deadline is Friday, November 17th. Saturday night, December 2, 2017, at 7:05 PM.
President Joe informed us that our Annual Christmas Party will be held at Taunton High School on December 7, 2017. Ed Fowler will be looking for a headcount over the next two weeks.
A reminder that the Rotary Foundation Dinner will be November 9th at the Venus de Milo. If folks are interested in attending, let Joe know and Taunton Rotary can reserve seats for this event.
President Joe informed us that the THS Interact Club meets on Thursdays. There were 20 Interact-ers at the last meeting and they were collecting items for the Puerto Rico disaster relief.
Our District 7950 Governor Steve Certa was our program for the day. Steve and Paula Certa and Assistant DG Charlene Jarest met with President Joe and Board Members at 10:30 AM to review our Club's goals and objectives for the year.
Steve Certa joined Rotary in 1994. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1996 and served as the Weymouth Club President for 2003-2004. He received his first Paul Harris in 2004 and again in 2012. Steve has been involved in Rotary at every level for the past 20 years.
DG Steve has been married to his wife Paula for 41 years. They are proud parents and 39-year residents of Hingham, MA. Steve gave us a history of his employment, business ownership, and his involvement with state, local, and national organizations.
DG Steve Certa asked us to identify our passion and make a difference in the world through Rotary. He asked us to support the RI Foundation by acting on "every Rotarian, every year" of giving. He spoke of all the good Rotary does from Peace Scholarships to Clean Water projects to Polio Plus and asked us to support District projects too.
Our District Governor ended by explaining all the good Rotary does on the Club, District, and International levels. He explained in detail the meaning of this year's Rotary Logo and for us to emulate its message. DG Steve Certa wished us good luck and promised to support our Club in every way possible.

George Mendros gave some information Bucks to inform the Club that David Tipping was at Mass General Hospital for five days but he's been released.
DG Steve Certa contributed a Happy Buck because he was glad to be with our Club for the DG's Annual Visit.
John Beauchaine tossed in a Happy Buck because it was still motorcycle riding weather but added a Sad Buck because he is too busy to go riding.
Dan LeBrun donated some Happy Bucks to thank everyone who took part in the TASC Dinner. TASC's Annual Dinner netted $30,000. Congrats! Additionally, Dan donated some Sad Bucks due to the recent death of a singer in the St. Jude the Apostle Parish choir who sang with Dan and about the tragic loss of another life in a recent automobile accident.
Kerrie Babin contributed some announcement bucks to once again invite everyone to the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce's 100th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, November 4th at Taunton's Holiday Inn. Entertainment will be by 'Men in Black'. A good time was promised for all attendees.
Joe Mitchell threw in a Happy Buck because his beloved Celtics won 8 straight games.
Dick Shafer gave a Sad Buck noting the passing of Past President LeRoy Latimer. Dick added some Happy Bucks to announce the upcoming Taunton River Watershed Alliances meeting and the TACC's 100th Anniversary Gala.
Carol Sullivan contributed a Sad Buck to note Roy Latimer's passing and a Happy Buck to welcome our District Governor, his wife Paula, and Assistant DG Charlene Jarest.
Russ Martorana donated a Sad Buck in honor of long time friend Roy Latimer who fought the good fight for many years against his diabetes issues. A Happy Buck followed because Russ and family recently visited the beautiful Amalfi Coast in Italy and got a private tour of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, Rome.
Mike Quinn threw in some Happy and Sad Bucks regarding the World Series. Mike was sad that the LA Dodgers lost, but the Houston Astros deserved it. In an World Series office pool Mike didn't fair well.
Mike Tabak donated several Happy and Sad Bucks, a Sad Buck to note the passing of Roy Latimer, our Club's long time Santa and Past President. Mike's Happy Bucks were to announce that he and Harry Rose served as co-chairs and committee members for the Foundation of the Advancement of Catholic Education for over 20 years and that this year's and that the total raised this year was $5,187,578.00.
President Joe had a Sad Buck to hear of Linda Quinn's leaving our Club due to a job change. Joe tossed in a Happy Buck because of the Boston Celtic's winning streak and a Very Happy Buck because his Boss was transferred to Georgia.
Ed Fowler contributed a Sad Buck in honor of Roy Latimer who helped Ed when he was building his house by reviewing the building plans and architectural work pro-bono. Roy was a kind, generous, and humble man and he'll be missed.
