From the President

At our most recent meeting, October 12, President Joe presided over the meeting.

A reminder that the Rotary Foundation Dinner will be November 9th at the Venus de Milo. If folks are interested in attending, let Joe know and Taunton Rotary can book a table for this event.

Next week, Joe will bring more information about our next service project: a partnership on the Scouting for Food drive.

Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting on October 12, Dan LeBrun was the Program Chair. Dan invited Paul Allison, a Career Mentor to speak to the club about his experiences in the TASC Career Mentor program. Paul spoke about his experience serving as a male role model for high school students looking for an additional adult figure in their lives. The program is developing to be as flexible as possible in allowing local men and women donate their time to work with the students in need. Responsibilities tend to be 6-8 meetings with a student, listening to some of their challenges and goals, offering advice, and possibly going on college tour visits or exploring other career opportunities with the student. Also joining us was Trish O'Brien, Career Mentor Coordinator, who spoke about the program's desire to be as responsive as possible for both students and mentors as it evolves. Anyone who is interested in becoming a career mentor is encouraged to get in touch with Trish.

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Linda had a happy buck for the Marian Manor and Morton Hospital blood drive on Friday, October 13th.

Dick S. had an info buck for the TRWA Fall Foliage Float on Sunday, October 15. There are rental kayaks available and it looks like it will be a great day.

Kit had a happy .50 for the upcoming AHS Wine Tasting on November 9th. She also had a sad .50 because this date conflicts with the Rotary Foundation Dinner.

Joe L. was happy about the recent changes to the Boy Scouts in the news this weeks. He had another change in his own responsibilities and so, for the first time since he was 13, he won't be at camp this summer. Finally, some sort of sad/hopeful buck for the 0-5 Giants.
