President Announcements

President Joe introduced visiting Rotarian, Lisa Lebreux, from the Fall River club. Joe thanked everyone who set up and participated in the Bowling Night last week. Joe mentioned that the lottery ticket sales are lagging and we need to make a final push in the next 30 days. Please pick up your tickets at the Sergeant's table.

The Rotary Fun Day is confirmed for June 11, 2016 at Taunton High School. There will be short weekly meetings immediately following the regular luncheon to discuss developments. Joe will be attending the District Conference on April 8-10.

Ed Fowler discussed the Youth Exchange trip to Taunton England this Summer. We are looking for two young people to travel to England as ambassadors of our club. See Ed for further details.

Happy & Sad Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Ray M. announced that he has taken a new job and will be taking a leave of absence from Rotary. Ray also introduced Lisa Lebreux as a colleague from Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River.
Christine K. was happy to be back at Rotary after several weeks away.
Will M. commented on the fun had at the bowling night. Will also commented on the success of the Bennett school fundraiser to assist the Water for Cambodia Project. One class, where Will's daughter is a student, has raised over $200 on their own. Way to go kids!!
Ed F. noted that due to his coaching, Will was the most improved bowler.
Dick S. returned from a week long trip to Florida with his 3 year old grandson and another week to rest before returning north. Dick also spoke about the expansion of the Industrial Park.
Rich V.thanked Ray for his support of the club and Good Luck!
John B. wished everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day, that he will miss Ray at the club, and that his team will not finish in last place next year at the Bowling Tournament.
Joanne S. was happy that her son mde the dean's list, eventhough he didn't tell her, and that her other son was second in the state of Rhode Island for wrestling.
Carol S.thanked Ray for all his work at the club.
Joe M. thanked Ray, had fun at the bowling night and mentioned the board meeting on the 17th.

Beware of new email scam claiming to be from Foundation Chair Klinginsmith

A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members. The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours.

The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address.

This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.

Rick Conti introduced Steve Megecy from Walrus and Carpenter Oyster Company of Charlestown, RI. Steve gave an interesting presentation on how oyster farming is done as a sustainable food source. It is gaining recognition as it does not require extra water. It is located in Ninigret Pond adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean.
