From the President
President Joe called up Kerrie Babin, Dan LeBrun, and Kit Tunney to present them with a Thank You Certificate for their participation in the "Read Across America" service project held at Hopewell School. Kudos to all three Rotarians.

Next,President Joe invited Ed Fowler up to bring the Club up to speed on our Youth Exchange Program with the Taunton England Club. Ed has applications for those who may be interested in traveling to the Taunton, UK Club this July. Applicants must be 18 or over. The exact date of the Youth Exchange Program is to be determined.

President Joe informed the membership that we have 75 tickets for the "Splash of Spring" event and 30 tickets have already been sold. Michael Duff said we can get more tickets if we need them.

The winner of our Lottery Scratch Ticket Raffle will be drawn at the "Splash of Spring" event on April 12, 2018.

President Joe spoke about another Rotary Service Project in conjunction with the YMCA. This project will consist of a general clean up and the planting of a tree. More details to follow.

Last Week's Speaker
At our most recent meeting, on March 22, 2018 the club held it's Annual Spelling Bee. Dan LeBrun was the Host and Moderator of the Spelling Bee. The winning Rotary team was Bob Hunt's team. Bob's team edged out Joe Mitchell's team and Jody Fiore's team to win the honor of representing our Club at TASC's Spelling Bee on April 11, 2018.
Happy Bucks
Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
  • John Beauchaine donated some happy bucks because he was glad to be at Rotary, but a heavy-hearted sad buck because Phil Robertson is no longer part of their singing trio: Phil, John, and Dan. Phil is sorely missed.
  • Dick Shafer threw in some happy bucks because the Taunton City Council paved the way to secure funding for the 22 mile Taunton River Trail, bicycle, and pedestrian path. The bike path project will run parallel to Route 138 in Somerset northerly to Fifth Street in Taunton at the new Weir Village Riverfront Park. It will be beneficial to all concerned.
  • Willits Mendoca contributed some happy and sad bucks. A sad buck because he is so sad about Phil Robertson's passing. Phil worked on Rotary's Clean Water Projects through the RI Foundation and Willits himself got involved in Rotary's Clean Water projects. A happy buck was donated to echo Dick Shafer's sentiments regarding the coming Taunton River Trail, bicycle, and pedestrian path project.
  • Dan LeBrun donated a happy buck to tout TASC's Annual Spelling Bee and to explain how it is run.
  • President Joe Livingston donated a happy buck to announce his promotion within the Boys Scout's organization. Joe will be in charge of Southeastern Mass and 4,000 scouts. Congratulations Joe.
  • Save up your bucks for this week's meeting!
