From the President

At our most recent meeting, held on November 9th, President Joe presided over our Club's meeting.

President Joe offered his thanks to Dan, Dave, and everyone else who helped out with the recent Scouting For Food event, which this year was a service project in collaboration with the Boy Scouts. The Interact Club was also able to join us for this project. In the local Taunton area more than 5,000 pounds of food was collected, and in total the Boy Scouts collected more than 210,000 pounds from the entire region. Congrats to them and thanks to all who donated.

President Joe encouraged all Rotarians to check their calendars to see if they could attend the Interact Club's Winter Ball. It is a great way to show support for the students as they raise funds for RYLA and promises to be a fun evening.

Finally, President Joe passed around an article from the Taunton Daily Gazette featuring Rotarian Dick Shafer and members of Seed Corp. receiving a donation from Rockland Bank. Congrats!

Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting, Mike Tabak was the Program Chair and he arranged from Kevin Shea and Mike Ferriera from Taunton's Office of Economic and Community Development (OECD) to present to the club. They presented on the City's master planning process which is currently underway. The goal of Taunton's master plan is to direct the community's long-term physical development and well as guide the community's decision making with a horizon of 2040. The consultant that is working with the city has dug deep into Taunton's demographics to identify areas of both challenge and growth. Two public events have been help, with more planned, to allow and encourage citizens to have their voices heard as a part of this process. To date, revitalization of Downtown, open space planning, and infrastructure have emerged as areas to be focused on. Kevin and Mike welcome any and all input and Mike encouraged people to be in touch with questions and suggestions as the process continues.

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Joe Mitchell had a happy buck because he is going to the Celtics game on November 10th.

Jess Costa was happy for Marian Manor's Snowflake Bazaar success. And especially happy that Dan LeBrun won a basket!

Kit Tunney had a happy buck for the one remaining ticket she had left for the AHS wine tasting.

Jody Fiore had 5 happy bucks. Two were for Katie's Mixed Doubles tennis team making it to the National Semifinals last weekend. The third was for Rick Conti's re-election in Attleboro. The fourth was for Jody's re-election to the School Committee. The fifth was for Jody's re-election to the Planning Board. Congrats!

Ed Fowler found a new job for Jeff on his recent trip: to design golf cart paths for older ladies who have a tough time cart driving.

Dick Shafer had an info buck about TRWA working to rehab to the info center at Sweet's Knoll. He also was pleased to announce that Sunday, June 10, 2018 will be the return of the Weir River festival.

Joe Livingston shared his last New York Giants dollar of the year--we can only assume it is a sad dollar. He will now be focusing on the New York Rangers. He had a buck for AHS's wine tasting event that evening. And finally, a thank you buck to all who are attending the Foundation Dinner on behalf of this club.

Dan LeBrun had a happy buck for Marian Manor and the Boy Scouts' great recent community events. He also had a buck (maybe a warning buck) for the preservation of President Joe's knees as he keeps bashing Boston sports teams.
