From the President

At our most recent meeting, held on January 11th, President Joe Livingston presided over our Club's meeting.

He welcomed us all back after the holiday break and our Snow Day the previous Thursday.

The RYLA Winter Ball was held on January 5. President Joe attended on behalf of the club.

Upcoming Event: February 8th will be our Million Dollar Meal at Pilgrim Congregational Church.

The scratch ticket raffle is back! Everyone should have received 5 tickets to sell via mail, but you are encouraged to sell as many as possible!

Last Week's Speaker

At our most recent meeting, President Joe Livingston gave his mid-year address to the club. He recapped some of the new events the club tried this year, including a meeting at Camp Cachalot, Downtown Walking Tour with the Old Colony History Museum, and giving out water at Taunton's Lights On, and is glad that we are trying new things and engaging with the community. He was glad that the Backpack Project that started last year grew this year and hopes that continues. Joe just created a Facebook page for the club, which he hopes will help us build a social media presence and share our events more widely.

Joe mentioned some goals for the second half of the year which include co-hosting an event with PRIDE, working with Jackie Theis on a Rotary Reads event, and trying to coordinate an Earth Day event in April.

We also have a lot of great things for the second half of the year already planned. Pancake and Family Fun Day will be June 23rd. It is our year to send kids to Taunton, England. Our annual Honors Day will be in May, and before then we will work to coordinate a join meeting with the Interact Club.

Joe appreciates the support of the Club and looks forward to the second half of his year!

Happy Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

10 Happy Bucks from Bob Hunt, who was at his first meeting since September. Bob is glad to be back and we are thrilled to have you back, Bob!

Joanne had a happy buck for the Pats and for Johnny B because of the Pats. She was happy for surviving the cold, but even more happy to be off to the Bahamas!

Dan L. had 5 happy bucks. Two were for Jeff and Katie serving as new TASC Career Mentors this year. The rest were for his son, who recently completed his MBA. Congrats!

Dick Shafer had a happy Patriots buck. He also had a happy buck for the long-awaited Cotley River damn removal project that should be starting by the end of the month. Plans are for this to be done in time for Taunton River Festival on Sunday, June 10.

Joe L. is happy that with the start of the playoffs, more teams are in the Giants boat waiting for next season to begin. He was even more happy that the Narragansett Council led all Northeast Council's with 4% membership growth. Great job to Joe and his team!

Finally an announcement buck from Ryan. His assistant is moving on and he is hiring for an entry level administrative assistant position. If anyone knows of qualified candidates feel free to refer to Ryan.
