President's Announcements
President Joe shared newspaper clippings about the successful Church at the Park Service Project we were a part of this year. He also shared Dan LeBrun's front page story about Taunton Area School to Career. Well done, Dan!
The most recent board meeting was Tuesday, 8/22. Joe reiterated to the club at our meeting that he wants to take a renewed look at service in the upcoming year and is to open to people thoughts and ideas on that theme. In November, the scouts have a food program, so we can certainly all plan to be a part of that effort this year.
Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
Joe Mitchell was happy to be in the room to the left of the top of the stairs today. He has good memories in this room. He also had a happy buck for the Celtics being in the news.
Carol was very happy and had 5 bucks. The first was for Pat joining us today. The second was for Marie. The third was for Becky. The fourth was to see Carol Sousa. And she had one more buck, so she threw it in!
Dan LeBrun was happy that the press release sent to Gazette made the front page. He also threw in a happy buck for how well the Red Sox are doing as of late.
Joe L. had two happy bucks. The first was that he was excited to be taking a vacation after a busy summer at camp. Joe is off to Montana...to camp! His second buck was for the start of football season right around the corner. [The rest of his commentary has been redacted.]
Carol Sousa was happy to be at the meeting this week.
Jeff Walker had an apology buck for "messing things up without Ed here to supervise." Not entirely sure what that means, but Ed, I am sure, looks forward to finding out!
At our most recent meeting, Thursday, August 24th, Pat Riley was our speaker. Pat is a dedicated volunteer in Raynham, serving on the Bridgewater-Raynham School Committee, hosting and producing local programming for The Raynham Channel, and she spoke to us as she enters her 22nd year as a volunteer for Raynham Association of Volunteers for Education, Inc. (RAVE). RAVE is a non-profit organization providing volunteers and volunteer programs in the Ranyham Schools. As President since 2006, Pat has overseen the continued growth and strength of this program, which works with hundreds of volunteers throughout the school year on extremely successful programs which range from kindergarten receptions, to fingerprint IDing and from Read Across America and a Senior pen pal program. It was great to learn more about their initiatives and for anyone interested in learning more about RAVE, you can reach out to Pat for more information.
