NEXT MEETING: July 24, 2025
12:00 p.m. at Stoneforge
Club News & Announcements
Our most recent club meeting was held on July 17, and led by President Bob. We welcomed one guest, Jordan, Francine's son, and were pleased that our speaker is also a Visiting Rotarian from Fall River.
We began the meeting by observing a moment of silence in remembrance of the recent tragedy in Fall River.
President Bob shared a few other announcements with the club. Our District Governor will be visiting on August 21—please mark your calendars! We're passing the bucket to help offset the cost of our Backpack Srvice Project. Contributions can be made in cash or via Venmo. If using Venmo, please include a note that it's for the backpacks.
Also, if you have a Family Fun Day lawn sign, please bring it to an upcoming meeting—Dave is collecting them.
📅 Upcoming Events:
August 14: Backpack Service Project at the Raynham Flea Market
August 21: District Governor Visit
At Our Most Recent Meeting...
...we welcomed Peter Daly, Director of Public Relations at People Inc. and a fellow Rotarian from Fall River. Peter shared the inspiring story of how People Inc. began with a small group of parents in Fall River on behalf of their children. Today, the organization has grown significantly, with services based in both Fall River and Taunton.
People Inc. provides a wide range of supports, including:
Residential services (33 homes from Mansfield to Westport)
Adult day habilitation
Early intervention and children’s services
Camp Jack
Transportation services
The organization now employs 830 staff members, making it a major economic driver in Fall River. Peter also shared exciting news about their new Early Childhood Education Center, which will open this September with 214 preschool slots. They are currently recruiting teachers for the center.
People Inc. values collaboration and partners with institutions like BCC, UMass Dartmouth, public schools, and the City of Fall River to further its mission. Locally, their Taunton administrative offices and day program are located at 70 Main Street, and they are proud members of the TACC.
They continue to grow their presence in Taunton through community events like Trunk or Treat and local ice cream socials, and are actively seeking nurses and early childhood educators to join their team.
Thanks to Peter for joining us, and for a great presentation about the good work at People, Inc.
Carol Souza: 5 happy bucks for the joy found in always trying new things!
Carol Sullivan: Got a sample backpack available for people to see; school supplies are prepackaged and stuffed. Anyone who wants to add to it is welcome. Packing will happen at the Raynham Flea. She also had a buck that her Narragansett property is rented for the year—professor on one side and a man who camps in the summer and needs a place October to May only on the other.
Dave C.: Happy to be back after a family vacation to Virginia Beach, Colonial Williamsburg, Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Busch Gardens, Mount Vernon, D.C., and Old Town Alexandria. Had a great time!
Francine: Happy bucks for the grand opening of Rivers of Hope’s Taunton office. And that July marks 9 years of operation. She added a buck to have two summer interns who have been a big help. And a final happy buck for her birthday next week!
Peter: Happy to be here buck.
Joe M.: Happy to be back from a 20-day trip to Portugal. Sad to have missed a few meetings and events. Happy for Carol and Zulmira on their Paul Harris awards.
Jody: Happy and sad bucks to become an empty nester. Happy his daughter is now the pastor at Westport Point United Methodist Church. Sad she’s taking the dogs
Zulmira: Sad buck for the Fall River tragedy. Happy buck for Peter being here today, and for Heather, who is part of the BGCMS Corporate Membership also able to join us.
Jennifer: Pleasantly surprised buck to be in the top 10% in production for Loan Depot Region 17.
