From the President

At our most recent meeting, October 5, President Joe presided over the meeting.

President Joe and Past President Carol were able to present the Club's donation to the Taunton School Committee. This money will be used to purchase medical ID bracelets for students in need.

A reminder that the Rotary Foundation Dinner will be November 9th at the Venus de Milo. If folks are interested in attending, let Joe know and Taunton Rotary can book a table for this event.

Guests
You can bring a guest to a Rotary meeting!
This week we welcomed:
  • Tim Veglas of the Salvation Army, our speaker
  • Josh, a potential new member
Last Week's Speaker
At our most recent meeting on October 5, Steph Mancini was the Program Chair. Steph invited Tim Veglas, Salvation Army Field Representative for Southeastern Mass to speak to the club. Tim shared information about the Salvation Army's work in the community, particularly in times of crisis and their long-term work to solve chronic issues like poverty and homelessness. Tim is responsible for a wide area of the state and is working to build a network and find community partners in Taunton. One area of need is bell ringers at Christmas. Shifts are two hours long and can be done in pairs. President Joe would like the Rotary and Interact Clubs to take this on as a Service Project, so look for the calendar in the coming weeks. All help is appreciated!
Happy Bucks
Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

Mike T. had a happy buck for having talked with Harry Rose recently. Harry is home from the hospital but will be out of commission for a few weeks. We continue to send him our best and look forward to seeing him soon!

Carol Sousa has 20 happy and grateful bucks. Her husband Frank has been ill recently, but is now doing great and they are off to Florida. She will see us all at Christmas!

Kit T. had a happy buck for a successful AHS Spaghetti Supper. The event went very well and they met their fundraising goal. Kit thanked the club members who were able to attend for her support, and we are all glad to hear it went so well!

Joe L. had a very sad buck for the Giants' 0-4 start to their season. He even declined the option to go to the game this weekend because of his sadness. But he also managed a happy buck for Boy Scout recruiting going well.
