President Carol Sullivan began our February 2, 2017 meeting with a great big thank you to Bob Hunt for his hard work making the chowder for our Million Dollar Meal. Thanks Bob!
Will M. and President Carol are working on planning an evening joint dinner with the Interact Club sometime in March. We will let you know when the date is finalized.
Jody had a helpful announcement for all about the upcoming RYLA Winter Ball. He was in touch with Debbie Logan about the dress code, and she advised to: dress up nice.
Mike Tabak had some verbal corrections to last week's newsletter. Mike kindly took the notes for Katie who couldn't make it to last week's meeting, but in speed-typing his notes following the meeting he accidentally swapped Carol Souza with Joe Livingston and sent Dan LeBrun on Carol Sullivan's Aruba trip! No apologies necessary Mike, and thanks for pinch hitting on the notes.
Will M. had an Interact update for the club. He attended the last Interact board meeting along with Joe and Rich. He reported that the club is hard at work on fundraisers and community service projects. They are also planning to help with the City's Annual Clean Up, and suggested that the Rotary Club consider matching their efforts this year.

Joe Mitchell was happy to read a letter from THS confirming use of facility for Pancake and Family Fun Day on June 17!
Linda Quinn was very happy that after graduating from UNH, her daughter will now be working in her chosen field! She'll be working with people struggling with mental health and addiction issues and we all wish her the best in her new endeavor.
Will M. was sad to reiterate that Harry Rose has been having some health issues as of late. He was happy that things are turning around and Harry is back at home. He is also happy to report that he is very close to registering for his first half Marathon. We know you can do it, Will!
Dave T. was sad to report that his mother is having health issues and is at Life Care in Raynham. While there, however, he ran into Past President Frank Tosti who is a dedicated volunteer at Life Care. Dave told Frank he would throw in a Happy Buck in Frank's honor on Chowder Day. Cheers to Frank!
Phil had a happy/sad buck. He is excited that the Patriots will be playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday. Unfortunately, it looks like he is going to miss the game because his Curling Club is hosting the final two games and then the banquet for a group of curlers from Scotland who have curled across the country and are ending their trip at his home club. Unfortunate timing, but sounds like a fun event.
Ed Fowler was happy that he recently bought a $20 scratch ticket and won $500!
Dick S. had two announcement bucks. The first to say that the TDC will be co-locating with the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce again after a number of years apart. The second was that the Old Colony History Museum's February Flicks movie series will be showing movies at 2 p.m. on February 4, 11, and 25th. Free and open to all. And there will be popcorn! The Butler is first on Feb. 4th.
At our most recent meeting, Thursday, February 2, 2017, Phil Robertson was the Program Chair and gave us a history of the Million Dollar Meal as well as an update on the Rotary Foundation. It was great to hear not only all of the wonderful programs that the Rotary Foundation is involved with, but also how their structure allows them to make their most of their philanthropic efforts without being tied to large administrative or marketing budgets. Phil is willing to speak with anyone about how to get more involved with the Foundation on a personal level, and we all look forward to the Club's efforts to contribute to the Foundation's worthy efforts.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 and it will be our annual Spelling Bee. Start studying your dictionaries!
