HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Next Meeting: December 4, 2025
12:00 p.m. at Taunton High School

Club News & Announcements

Our most recent club meeting was held on November 20, and we were led by Past President x3 Joe Mitchell.

Our next meeting, 12/4, is the annual Holiday Luncheon at Taunton High! Rotarians and guests may park behind the THS Field House where students will be at the doors to direct you to the Presentation Room. Immediately after our Christmas Lunch we will be entertained by the Taunton High School Select Chorus with traditional Christmas songs and the Annual sounding of the
Taunton England Carriage Horn performed by Lou Ricciardi.

The following week, 12/11, we will not have a lunch meeting but instead celebrate the Head Start Children's Christmas Party at Pilgrim Church at 5 p.m.
How you can help:
  • Send donations to @Taunton-Rotary for gifts for the kids
  • Be on the lookout for a present wrapping date and volunteer to wrap the gifts
  • Help set up the event starting at noon on 12/11
  • Bring juice and/or water for the kids
  • Attend the party and help spread Christmas cheer for families in need.

đź“… Upcoming Events:

  • November 27, No Meeting. Happy Thanksgiving!
  • December 4, Holiday Luncheon at Taunton High
  • December 11, Head Start Children's Christmas Party

At Our Most Recent Meeting...

...we welcomed Jaclyn Freestone, and her colleagues Natalie and Melissa, who shared an overview of Healthy Families, a free and voluntary home visiting program designed for first-time parents under 24. The program provides ongoing support and helps families connect with resources in their community, ensuring parents feel supported rather than isolated during the early years of raising a child.

Healthy Families is available in every city and town across Massachusetts. Visits typically occur weekly or biweekly in the family’s home and can continue for up to three years. There are no income requirements, making the program accessible to any eligible parent. In addition to home visits, the program hosts community events, such as trips to La Salette to enjoy the holiday lights, giving families opportunities to connect and engage with others.

The program also emphasizes collaboration and feedback through its advisory boards. A Parents Advisory Board allows participating families to share their experiences and help improve the program, while a Community Advisory Board brings together local agencies to support program development and outreach.

Currently, Healthy Families Taunton-Attleboro serves 40 families, with the capacity to expand to 100. If anyone knows of a family who would benefit from their services, please reach out!

Happy & Sad Bucks

  • George had some Happy Buck breaking news, that when donating through Venmo, the club only sees 89 cents of each happy buck! So he gave cash to share the full extent of his happiness for Joe stepping in to run today's meeting.

  • Sarah had happy bucks for P.R.I.D.E.'s recent ribbon cutting, coverage by WPRI, and that she enjoyed a fun vacation to Mexico.

  • Jen had a proud buck that her daughter Cassandra was officially sworn in as a Massachusetts attorney yesterday.

  • Will had buck for an Interact update. The club is currently working on projects to support the local animal shelter, help the Tiger Closet with a clothing drive, and write holiday cards for residents at Marian Manor. The officers are looking forward to joining us at the holiday luncheon, and four members are committed to volunteering at the Head Start party. Also he added a happy buck that the DG announced the president-elect as Tina White, who he’s worked with on Youth Engagement and thinks she'll be a great DG.

  • Ed had two bucks in thanks to John for his presentation last week on his service in the Middle East. He had two more  for his story about when he used to help run a Family Fun Day when he was on the airport commission, and one time a military helicopter did a flyby. He had the chance to see a Blackhawk helicopter up close and some of the amazing things it can do.

  • Joe had a concerned buck for Bob and hopes he is well. He had several happy bucks: for a recent meeting at the the Fall River club. They hosted a district meeting and he stayed for a makeup—they’re a great club. He was happy to have attended Saturday’s Foundation luncheon which was, and always is, motivating. He had a buck for the Celtics who are over .500. And a final buck because he's excited to have family visiting for a week from Alaska.
