At our most recent meeting...
At our most recent meeting, we welcomed guests from Morton Hospital to give us an update on how things are going. Hospital President Heidi Taylor gave a presentation and shared some really positive news from Morton Hospital.
In the last year, Morton has administered 50,000 COVID tests and served as a designated COVID hospital in April 2020. They opened a vaccination clinic for healthcare workers in December and in February transitioned their assistance to offsite Phase II vaccine sites. Testing volume has gone from 300/day to less than 100/day, and of that ~100 most are for pre-procedure checks. Currently, only about 30-40 people a day are getting true COVID tets.
Overall, the hospital received a Patient Safety Rating of A from Leapfrog for the first time since 2015. Also, the Sleep Lab Center has received reaccreditation, and a number of physicians have been added including two 2 full-time psychiatrists, a 3rd bariatric surgeon, mew specialists in ENT and gastroenterology, and a new orthopedic surgeon.
Morton is awaiting accreditation to be a "Center of Excellence" for bariatric surgery and is also introducing a new service line "MorCAP" which stands for Morton Comprehensive Addiction Program. This will be a 32-bed, Level 4 inpatient substance abuse unit with an intense outpatient program. Currently, there are only 172 level 4 beds in MA and none in our area. This important new service line is targeted to open in Q3 or Q4 2021,
Importantly, the patient experience continues to climb upwards and Morton is committed to their mission of community outreach and looking forward to continuing to sponsor events in 2021 and beyond.
Thanks to Heidi Taylor President; Krystal Hilton, CNO; Nancy Spirko COO; and Julie Masci, Director of Marketing, Public Affairs & Community Health Programs for joining us.

Rebecca had a happy buck for the Rotary-YouthWorks project. She also had a happy buck for some new projects she is working on for TASC.
Dave had his happiest bucks he has ever had for both of his kids going back to school full-time on April 5 and gave $10 for each kid.
Bob R. shared a buck to update us on his Northeast PETS training. PETS has 6 different evenings of training and he is halfway through. So far it has been a great experience and he is making good connections. He also had a happy buck to have gotten his father-in-law a COVID appointment through the pre-registration method.
Zulmira had a happy buck for her second dose of vaccine and no side effects. She also was happy for AHS fundraisers, including a wine fundraiser right now and an upcoming flower arrangement fundraiser. To support AHS by buying wine you can go to www.onehopewine.com/event/91258
