 President's Announcements

We had some sad news this week and ask all Rotarians to keep our friends in their thoughts.

George J. Colajezzi, Jr. passed away on November 16th. He was a Rotary Past President from 1999-2000 and a friend to many in the club.

Haiden V. Larson, Rotarian Ryan Hazel's stepson, passed away on November 11th. A visitation for relatives and fiends was held on Friday, November 18th from 4-7 PM in the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham.

President Carol Sullivan reminded the club that next Thursday is Thanksgiving and there is no Rotary meeting. She wished a happy Thanksgiving to all and our next lunch meeting with be Thursday, December 1st.

Carol reminded the club of the upcoming Children's Christmas Party will be the evening of December 8 at 5 pm at the Pilgrim Church. We are collecting money for donations for toys and hope many Rotarians can make it to this event.

Also, on December 8, our Annual Christmas lunch meeting will take place at Taunton High School. There will be the playing of the Rotary horn, a concert from the THS band, and lunch organized thanks to Ed Fowler.

Joe  Mitchell is working on a member Directory, so please check in at the sergeant-at-arms desk to confirm we have the right contact information for you. If not, make the appropriate edits so Joe can get the Directory finished. On the same note, be aware that some Rotarians have reported receiving a scam email asking them to click a link to update names and contact information in a directory. The email, which stems from a gmail account, is not from Rotary. Do not click it. We are doing this in person, not via email.

There has been a lot of great newspaper coverage for Rotarians this past week. The TASC dinner was highlighted, PRIDE INC. received an award, Mike Duff of Pro-Home was featured, and the joint lunch meeting with Kiwanis was in the paper again (and had the wrong caption again).

Finally, don't forget to sell raffle tickets. Turn in your tickets as you sell them so we can start to get a count on how many have been sold and how many are left to go. There are still about 25 at the sergeant-at-arms desk, so keep selling until we get to 400!

Happy & Sad Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?

  • Rick C. was happy he didn't embarrass himself at the Tuesday tax classification night.  Of course, he did a great job!

  • Will M. was happy for a recent vacation to Florida.  He also had a buck for an excellent Turkey Trot with the Old Colony YMCA this past Sunday. He posted a record 5K time and is on to a half marathon next!

  • Phil was happy that a great group would be representing Taunton Rotary at the Foundation dinner. He had a sad buck for not being able to attend himself.

  • Ed had three sad bucks. The first was to report that Dennis Cody has been having health problems recently. The second was because Ed Valadao had a stroke recently. And the third was for his good friend George Colajezzi's passing. It was George who first brought Ed into Rotary.

  • Jody F. had two bucks. The first was a sad buck for George Colajezzi. The second was to report happy news that his wife is now doing much better after a recent surgery, and we're all happy to hear that!
